Been a lot of talk on other areas of the board about Whitford, Maloney, Neu and the like in terms of who has produced thus far, to what extent and who needs to produce in the future. Now we've got a new AD who's supposedly going to be evaluating everyone. Even beyond those three there has been a lot of disappointment with even our better teams (women's basketball) when it comes to finishing strong.
So ... who does everyone think SHOULD have the hottest seat? Let's take contract length out of this discussion. and just say who we think deserves Goetz's closest scrutiny.
I still say Whitford, although Neu could jump right to the top of my heap with a real dud this fall.

Whit as of right now. I agree Neu jumps to the top if its terrible. Maloney is a distant third

Agree with Rob. I don't expect a huge increase in wins in football, but we've got to show improvement !!! I don't honestly think I could put Maloney at third, but a quick thought doesn't allow anyone else to quickly come to mind.

I guess you could add Sallee other than that I do not think I could tell you another coaches name.

Until one of the programs wins a postseason tourney, let's put everyone on the list.

Considering the epically bad season last year, Neu has to be at the top of my list. Injuries, yeah, but holy crap the defense was more than abysmal.
At least the MBB team is respectable.

All the talk from an AD about excellence makes us think W-L but that gets balanced against the off the field performance like academics, and the budget.
Some middling or even low performers are completely safe.

I think Rob has it right in that there may only be a handful of people outside this board and the athletic department who can name half our team coaches.
Legitimately, only Neu and Whitford probably are at a level where they could be fired for performance.
Everyone else could probably tread water at a level of mediocrity or below and be fine.
Personally, I would put Sallee, Maloney and Walton on a second tier in terms of how much I care, merely because I like basketball and baseball enough and think men's volleyball historically has a level of excellence that is worth trying to maintain.
Women's volleyball and softball are in my third tier, with everything else below. It's not necessarily that I don't like golf, tennis, field hockey, soccer, etc. but only scandal or excellence achieving national (or at least conference wide) notoriety are likely to draw my interest.

Whit and Neu tie.
Whit has at least won 19 or 20 + games regardless of schedule and I recognize that Neu has been around a shorter time but hardly going in the right direction.

Yet year after year certain programs outperform their budget. Odd isn't it.

Kid, I hate to differ, but with our schedule, in our conference, in this day and age, 19-20 some wins does not mean jack. I believe we have only 2 wins in the conference tournament since Whit took over and that stat says volumes about this program in this conference. I would say the only reason Whit's seat is not hotter is the premature extension he received from the Athletic Administration.
