I didn't read past your first sentence, so excuse me for not addressing anything else you posted. No problem, you often don't know what you are talking about and still offer an opinion. We're used to it. I's that why everyone claims you completely misrepresent their posts. Seems odd...............

Don't know about that, but you did admit there that you comment on posts without reading so I haven't misrepresented anything here.

Neu has to be the only hot seat guy right now. And his seat is very hot.

I think Coach Neu will get four full recruiting classes to turn things around and show significant progress before being released.

Neu is on the hottest seat. A third awful yr and I think he could be in trouble. Whitford Sallee and Maloney all need more MAC tournament success or else we will continue to be restless but I don't think their seats are red hot. The softball coach is extremely safe given her extension shortly after Goetz was hired.

I thought this thread might be worth revisiting now that we've got another fall under our belts and now that we've seen what basketball has to offer this year.
It's already been noted on these boards that Neu was very close to being let go this year.
And now Whitford at least seems to be confirming that while we'll never be really terrible under him, we'll probably never accomplish anything of significance athletically either.
So if you're Goetz and you're looking at buying out one of those two contracts either this spring (Whitford) or next fall (Neu), which are you saving up for?
I guess it still has to be Neu with the short leash, especially with only one year left on his contract after the 2019 season.
That's compared to the 3 still left on Whitford's deal (thanks Sandy) after this season. Oh boy, 3+ more seasons of meh basketball during which I'll continually be drawn into wanting to believe that we're something we'll never be ... really good.
I'd love to know what Goetz thinks of her two marquee coaches, although I guess it's already evident what she thinks of Neu. I wonder if she puts Whitford in the same category or somehow has a higher opinion of him.

Whitford is “Ball State safe” meaning he wins enough (regular season only) games to not have anyone too upset beyond this board about no tourney success and no REAL post season appearances so far. It’s the perfect scenario for the administration and BOT. Win more than half your games, don’t embarrass the university in any way, make sure most of your players graduate and keep your head down. Don’t make waves. They love that and whit is perfect. Quite frankly in that scenario championships just aren’t a big deal to the powers that be. He essentially is on a lifetime contract if he keeps doing what he’s doing regardless of lack of winning anything of significance. And they won’t have to pay someone else. I’m holding out some hope he can actually work a miracle and at least get us to the NIT. Thats something, right?
Neu on the other hand, is toast. I bet even 5 wins a year in football would keep the admins happy but he doesn’t appear to be able to accomplish that. He can’t even hang on to his starting qb and Rb, which signals some serious internal issues. And now guys who played quite a bit in the secondary are leaving. Looking at next year’s schedule it looks like another 1-3 start in the non conf which means he’s gotta win 5 games just to get to 6-6 and a Possible but not guaranteed bowl bid. That’s extremely unlikely.
So, the money is on Neu not making it to the end of his contract. Unless someone high up stops his removal again.

I cant see how thats going to happen unless some form of miracle happens next year. The schedule does not shape up well his job. As far as whit everything cardfan says is right he can coach here forever just being OK
