After so many years of just trying to average 3.334 yards per play I'm excited to see this new offense. We might even hit 3.335 yards per play! That should get us a 1st down after every three offensive plays, eating up the clock and scoring on every possession. I think that is a winning plan!

Forgot I had this research you may not want to read it... This is going to need to change
So, I compiled the team defensive stats for Elson's defenses where he has been the DC since 2012. They are: 2017 - Ball State - 90th total defense (420.9 ypg); 84th rushing d (147.3 ypg); 79th passing D (232.7 ypg); 123rd scoring D (39.7 ppg allowed).
2016 - Western Illinois - 106th (out of 122) total defense (447.1 ypg); 45th rushing D (149.7 ypg); 120th passing D (297.4 ypg); 91st scoring D (31.5 ppg) 2015 - Southern Illinois - 113th total d (467.7 ypg); 116th rushing D (240.2 ypg); 82nd passing D (227.5); 101st scoring D (34.6 ppg) 2013 - New Mexico State - 123rd (dead LAST) total D (549.5 ypg); 123rd Rush D (299.5 ypg); 91st Pass D (250 ypg); 120th Scoring D (44.6 ppg) 2012 - New Mexico State - 111th total D (476.2 ypg); 113th Rush D (221.4 ypg); 92nd Pass D (254.8 ypg); 117th Scoring D (39.4 ppg)

That’s the stuff I found too Rob. His defenses have been shit and Neu hired him anyway. There is zero evidence he’ll do any better for us.

Well, he is willing to work with very bad defenses. That makes him perfect match...

It's the Indy friends network that got him hired at BSU (Neu-Lynch-Elson). If there isn't a drastic improvement in our defense this year, I'd stay Allstate Insurance will be gaining a new sales rep in 2019.

Said it before and will say it again.......with our crappy defense, why do we even want to think about no huddle, hurry-up type offense when we ought to be SUCCESSFULLY taking time off the clock during our offensive possessions so that the defense isn't on the field as much ?? Sure, that me be the style that Neu would like to incorporate, but you've got to coach to the players you've got and not to what they can't do.

I’m all for the fast paced offense. The defense will probably be bad regardless. Might as well have some excitement on the other side of the ball. It might not be great for the defense, but a hurry up offense could really improve the offense.

Both sides of that argument are good. We can either loose 45-31 every night or 31-21. Pick our poison.

What I want to see is the Coach Neu we thought we would see with an Arena type football offense. I think we have lots of small quick receivers & think a hurry up offense will work well with those receivers & the runners constantly changing as well. Does that help the defense no I will accept that. What I don't want to see is the special teams we had last year. I felt the special teams coach should not have returned & felt we gave up 10 points a game to our MAC West opponents right there. I will say that Neu's job probably rests with how well the defense & special teams perform this season.

6-6 and a bowl game. Neal shines. Running game shines. Defense improves, but gives up points, we just score more.
