Was watching Notre Dame / Northwestern last night and they mentioned (in the course of talking about another receiver) that Riley Miller from Ball State leads the country in 3rd down receptions that result in 1st downs.

They also mentioned BSU held ND offense to 24 points in a game that the outcome was contested.

That’s great, but it hasn’t meant squat.

A little love is a good thing.

Oh I love to hear mentions like that on national telecasts. The problem is it doesn’t hold up in terms of how the team has played. We’ve gotten steadily worse since the ND game. So we can get all the love in the world off that one game but we’re still a bad football team. How did we give such a good accounting that day and never come close to that again?

Being so close to it as we all are we don't recognize that a good chunk of of the country doesn't have a clue that we have totally collapsed. They only know what we did in that one game. I ran into that this weekend at a family gathering.

Cool, I’m gonna pretend I’m not close and don’t know we collapsed! :-) That would take years of training. We're all so close that even if we didn't know what happened we would know in our hearts that we collapsed.

Assuming no changes things will go pretty similar to what they have the last two years.

Let's be a little more optimistic.
Why assume no changes? That coaching, however you evaluate it, wouldn't learn a little something.
Remember they did seem prepared early this year. They'll know their careers are on the line.
And they'll be working with a few more tools. I do tend to agree we won't have a top team in terms of talent, but isn't better likely?
We lose relatively little from this year. We have some R/S players and maybe a few freshman coming in. And everyone a year older, perhaps wiser.
Another Spring will be important, should be helpful for changes already made and to come.
Could coaching not also be better given all that?
Yes, I don't see us ruling the MAC, but the same as these two years. I don't see that.

Might not even change if that happens could be worse
