I know that nobody on this board likes him, but I honestly think that Neal gives us a better shot at winning than Plitt. That’s just my personal opinion. That said, I’m hopeful that Paddock surpasses both guys and becomes our starter next year. Plitt is a great backup QB! Respectfully, just curious what's formed your opinion. Sometimes opinions are just feelings and sometimes they're formed through evaluation and data. What's led you to that opinion? My other question, in general, is this: If we now have a true QB competition between Neal, Plitt, Paddock and the freshman ... and Neal loses that competition to any of the other 3 ... how does he react? How will that affect the lockerroom? If Plitt loses, he's been in the back-up role before. I assume he would accept that without ruffling feathers. But would Riley, as a fifth-year senior who's started since he was a freshman, suffer that demotion as well? In my opinion, Neal is the better and more talented QB, and he protects the ball. He doesn’t take as many risks, which frustrates fans and apparently some players if these comments about players not happy with Neal are to be believed, but it is not debatable that when you lose the turnover battle it is difficult to win games. Especially when you have an atrocious defense. The reason I think Plitt might be the answer at QB next year is IF the players don’t want to play hard or lack respect for Neal. Honestly, I put some of the blame on the players around Neal if that is the case. The intangibles appear to be in Plitt’s favor, so it is a question of what direction the players and coaches want to go. Look at the schedule. Early season when Neal was playing, we played teams with below average offense but strong defense. Second half, when Plitt got his playing time, we played teams with good offenses and below average to terrible defense. Neal put up 52 against Kent State. Just something to consider when comparing the two QB’s.

Then there is no pleasing you.
Anyone with eyes could see the different spark the offense had with Plitt. He’s NOT the better qb but the team responded better to him and he tried to get the ball downfield in ways Riley didn’t. He just seemed more confident and aggressive and didn’t just take the quick short check down pass all the time.

Who are you talking to, Cardfan? Not sure what you mean with your first comment. I think we can all agree that we need better play from the QB no matter who it is.

No one said the players don’t like or respect Riley. Not saying that at all. But there was a different response with Plitt. Who knows why. If Riley stays maybe he’s MAC POY next year. But so far the results show he’s just not that effective. And with Neu not willing to say “Riley is our QB” that ought to tell you something.

How many points did we score against Miami in the 2nd half, and who was the QB? If we had more energy, how come we didn’t score?

WMU has a winning record because of their offense, not their defense.

I do not think Riley was or is causing any diarray he is an awesome guy. We all saw the difference in players reactions, attitudes and energy when PLitt was in there. You can not question that all and if you do you just did not want to see it. The players rallied around him. Not sure that was refection of player negativity about Neal.
Credit to Plitt for going with that positive flow. I am not so sure we can say that the change is all due to some
magic on his part. If it is, that certainly counts in his favor. Whatever it is different we have to keep alive.
If Neal wants to start he has to be able to harness that vibe as well.
If it is Neal the players react negatively towards, that has to be a factor in who the starter is. My point above is that if the disarray, or malaise, whatever the cause, exists after Spring we are cooked.

Your exactly right if you start the season divided you are doomed from the get go.
