The CFL season is done for our three alums. Two of whom had injury ridden seasons. Jamil Smith played for the Edmonton Eskimos as a kick returner & wr. He was limited to 4 games with 3 receptions for 21 yds, returned 18 punts for 99 yds, & returned 14 kickoffs for 335 yds. This was his 5th yr in the CFL. Jonathon Newsome played for the Ottawa Redblacks in his 3rd season in the league. Listed as a Defensive Lineman he had 8 defensive tackles & one special teams tackle with one sack.
The one player who had an excellent season was Jordan Williams-Lambert. Playing WR for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders he had a great yr as a rookie in the league. He had 62 catches for 764 yds & 4 touchdowns. His catch total led the team. He was named the Rough Riders Rookie of the Year. He was also named the West Division Rookie of the Year.
I think Williams at 24 may try to play again in the NFL after his CFL success.
Jamil hopefully recovers from his injuries & can return next season. Injuries have greatly reduced his effectiveness as a pro in the past 4 seasons. He has appeared in 20 of his teams 72 games.
Newsome has also suffered greatly from injuries & his playing time this season was as minimal as Smith's.
