Not sure there is a cheap coach D who really does well. Probably one who can make us respectable.

A good FCS coach wouldn’t take this gig. Putting up a good FCS record beats the publicity of making a MAC team 6-6

In our case, coach b was Lembo taking over for Parrish, coach a. Coach a could recruit but not be a head coach. Coach b could coach but not recruit. Coach c, Neu I have no idea. In your scenario coach B was unable to win after coach A's players left. He Left the the closet empty for C putting him behind the 8 Ball to Start. Coach C comes in has to Fix coach B's mess. He seems to have pieces but still has glaring holes... So we Likely end up with coach D whos job will be a bit easier The C's due to having some pieces.. It really dependant on the AD to make Sure whoever D is is the the right hire. So in review in order to succeed you need a successful sequence of A-D Miss on any and your back to A Everyone understands this right
The upsetting and scary part to me is that I think I do understand !!!!!

And when you miss you can't help but keep them longer than you than want for financial reasons. Paying two coaches at the same time is really painful to the entire department. And depleting the deep pocket of a donor means that money isn't available for the other purposes, like a second miss in a row. Let's not even think of that...
