What is the primary reason for all these expected transfers? I imagine for some it is a lack of playing time, but guys like Huntley, Hall and Givans? Is it they don’t like Neu or the offense?

We lose another 8 players brings us to 14. That type of player loss shows me the coach did as it appeared in the Ohio game lose the team.

Hopefully Huntley can take over as the go to back. With Dunner, Hurt, and Jones in the fold they should still be a solid group. If HUntley stays If they have a line.

All those Georgia kids came in expecting to start. And most of them didn’t/don’t and a bunch didn’t play at all. Robinson was a real disappointment. Kept him from Iu when we got him but he can’t seem to find the field much. I do think the staff’s grand plan was to get all those guys out there probably next year but some guys just don’t want to wait their turn. Have heard some were vocal about who was getting to play and who wasn’t.

I really feel like we ought to hit jucos hard again for oline men. I know we got burned by Lopez and Willie. Willie gave every indication of wanting to sign with bsu and then completely dropped us. Or maybe we dropped him late. But we really really need an oline with punch and GOOD depth. We don’t have either.

We will fill the class but I do not know if we are going to get the guys we need not a whole lot left at this point. We are going to have to take some chances with some kids, Hit the jucos and grab the best available

It does sound like we can really give a lot of scholarships now. Let see if these guys can recruit the junior colleges because we need bigger stronger players. Getting to .500 is going to be a lot harder with today's losses which I put squarely on the current coaches.

I am not too optimistic now for next year, because a lot of the guys looking to transfer are the guys I was excited about and thought could turn our program around. It really feels like we are starting over from scratch, and that is not a good omen for Neu. He might have to pull off some magic next year.

Bottom line is the program is losing two of its best and highest profile players, let alone most key offensive players, so if that doesn’t serve as a wake up call to the staff nothing will. The Daily News says sources close to the team (the players) say the transfers are due to some staff not taking players seriously and lack of needed adjustments after losses (duh, even we know that).
This is not a good coaching staff. If bsu had the money Neu would be gone. but, Neu gets a reprieve and he has one year to grow up, and to either get his staff to grow up and understand this business is serious or find out which ones don’t get it it and replace them ASAP.
Transfers happen all the time. Transfers of your two of your top offensive players do not unless you have series issues. Head coaches of programs as bad as ours make significant staff changes or they do not survive. Lester at wmu wasted no time getting rid of his DC and they missed the MACC by Just one game. losing to us). If mike doesn’t make similar moves with the staff he’ll be gone after next year. If he doesn’t evaluate and assess the root causes of player discontent, and based on his interviews with o’gara he either has no clue about his own players or doesn’t take them seriously, as is suggested by the DN article. Again, if he doesn’t do that, he’ll be gone after next season.
It’s obvious the program is dysfunctional despite Beth’s observations to the contrary. Hopefully she will address those issues privately with Beth. It’s a given with any football program, even the best ones, that some players will be unhappy. Never gonna keep 105 guys happy. The key to good staffs though is keeping the majority and the team leadership happy and understanding what makes them tick and why. Mike appears to have lost that. Personally I felt Riley wasn’t the right leader of the offense. Best qb, but not best leader. Gilbert was definitely not used properly for whatever reason. I put that on the staff.
At any rate, things are not good and we’ll see if Mike is good enough and savvy enough to identify and correct the problem areas. I don’t have much faith that he will. I don’t have much faith he will remove the staff that are not up to standard and we’ll see the same issues on the field. Especially the clown show that is the defense.

I’m not concerned that there are transfers, but I’m concerned because of the players transferring. Good teams don’t lose Sr. Starting QB and RB and potentially top WR and TE via transfer. I find it interesting that most of the impact players leaving are on the offense. The defense was terrible, so I don’t feel too bad if guys who couldn’t make the field on defense decide to leave. Lynch seems like a really nice guy, but I think it is fair to say he might not be the right guy to lead our offense. Neu has one year to prove he can get this mess cleaned up and the team moving in the right direction. Together. Right now it feels like the heart of the team is gone.

Lynch seems like a really nice guy, but I think it is fair to say he might not be the right guy to lead our offense. Not the right guy to lead an offense; like taking your NFL caliber quarterback and calling plays to have him thrown 30-40 yard passes in 45mph side wins during the Godaddy bowl? The guys transferring know the offensive playcalling is a joke. A 5-year-old can predict our offense. Lynch playcalling is as basic as it was when he was the QC before the Parish years. We used to get 50+ hung on us by Iowa, Clemson, Auburns of the world, now its EMU, Ohio etc.. Im all for just dropping the FB program to FCS. Being 100% honest. There will never be a chance to compete on the highest level and the only kind of wins we can get are from FCS teams.

Neu needs to stop putting his friends and personal loyalties first, if he wants to be a head coach in the future.
I understand the sentiment, but if your friends aren't cutting it, you're not gonna have a job.

This experiment is going to last one more year of failures and excuses (now they have two more to fall back on) and then hopefully we will buy our players what they deserve.

Chevis Jackson is a good recruiter but his secondary has been crap for 3 years. Is he getting the job done? 3 star WR recruits can’t get on the field. Is bailey getting the job done? Turnaround of bad programs happens. Look at Curt Mallory at Indiana st. Why is Neu incapable of doing it?
