Cmu aint playing around. According to football scoop, Jim Mclwaine, former Colorado St. and Florida head coach, is very strong candidate for cmu job. They hire him cmu is gonna dominate in a few years.
Bsu just doesn’t commit like that.

2 sec east championships and SEC coach of the year is a disaster? Career record 44-28. I’d take that disaster.
That said, he IS a nut job.

Maybe not a disaster by Ball State standards, but for Florida he was a disaster. He had a good first year, but went downhill from there. My father-in-law is a die hard gator fan and he couldn’t have been happier to see him go. In addition to being a nut job, the Florida offense was terrible under the supposed offensive genius. I say let CMU have him!

He was good at CSU. CMU is worse to recruit at than either one. I question his midwest connections though he has 4 yrs at MSU & Michigan. The real question I would want to know as he will be 57 in fall is this a guy wanting to move up or a guy like Bowden & Solich who will if sucessful be there until he retires?

I think he’ll start out really strong and have a great defense (like at Florida)and then just wear people out with his behavior and they’ll want him out.

Man I just want an old solid smart coach like Solich.. Bowl games every year and a shot at the MAC every few.

The x coach to me did a good job & really believe if the wife had not gone nuts he would have gotten another yr. Bonamego was never going to leave unless they fired him. I would take 3 bowls in 4 yrs.

McElwain did a very good job at CSU even with an old off-campus located stadium. He screwed up at Florida. He can recruit and coach. CMU will be winners with him.

Some interesting posts on the CMU message board:
"Press Conference is scheduled for Monday morning at 11 in the McGuirk Arena atrium. The consensus feeling (although not confirmed) is that Jim McElwain is the choice. The coaching staff is expected to be in place very, very soon."
Then later:
"From a reliable source, the four finalists to be the next CMU football head coach are": - California OC Beau Baldwin - Former Arizona head coach Mike Stoops - Oklahoma co-OC/OL coach Bill Bedenbaugh - Former USC OC Tee Martin
These were followed up with a post saying that since Brohm said no to Louisville, they (Louisville) were focusing on McElwain.
Bottom line, Ball State is probably headed back to last place in the MAC West, sooner rather than later.

Would stink if there is serious truth to the McElwain rumor. An ex power 5 coach is exactly the type of coach at this point Id prefer over trying to find an up and comer or a "Ball State guy" which has had very mixed results for the football program.

And you know if that up and comer is successful they will move on in 2-3 years. As someone else pointed out, a coach similar to Solich is perfect for a MAC school.

Good lord, our candidate lists aren’t ever even in the same hemisphere of the guys listed there. We aim low, quick, and cheap. It’s no wonder at all why we’re always stuck in the mud. Did Mark Sandy even look anywhere but Neu? (Again, I have always liked Mike, but Cmu has targeted freaking dudes with college track records)
We will never be better than a 3-4 MAC win team unless we make major changes in how we do business. Hopefully Beth is willing to go up against the long standing roadblocks in the administration and BOT and get something significant done. Shoulda been done this year but I’m guessing her hands were tied.
