Is under consideration for the Temple JOb.. We can hope he gets it and they screw up the hire.. They seem like a school who would just promote though

All the guy did was 6 years was win 4 west division titles and two Mac championships. We couldn’t beat him. He won the Mac title this year so I can see why niu fans were glad to see him go....
That said, I’m not sure how he’ll do at temple. But I would think his blue color approach and toughness would play well there.

All I know is if ANY of our coaches win two Mac championships in 6 years they are revered. Unless they are total asshats. Or ordered to be fired to placate Ronnie. (Randy Litchfield). Hell, whit would be considered among the greats. Pete Lembo would be coaching a power 5.

I do not know what it is about Carey but NIU fans have also wanted him fired at times during his tenure. You cant argue with his results though. Hey maybe NIU makes a bad hire and we then can beat them once

Hey maybe NIU makes a bad hire and we then can beat them once NIU fans absolutely loathe him. It's borderline hilarious. But at least they don't have the apathy about programs that we do.

It shows how spoiled NIU fans have become that they'd want to push a coach out with Carey's resume.

There certainly was some unusual friction regarding Carey and the fanbase/donors; I never got around to posting the report from FootballScoop back in November, but the link is below. In the event the link is no longer active, the bottom line is that Northern reported the Carey extension late this past October or early November, however, as the FootballScoop report states, Carey actually signed the extension in January (2018); NIU chose to withold this from the public and then announced it in November. footballscoop.com/news/northern-illinois-decided-secretly-extended-rod-careys-contract/

It appears a lot of NIU fan dismay is due to their bowl record under Carey. If his successor flops, which unfortunately I have doubts that actually happens, in hindsight they'll look more favorably upon his 2 MAC championships with 2 very different teams in 6 seasons and a 38-10 MAC record.

Their lousy bowl record is just more evidence of MAC football ineptitude on the regional/ national scene.
