Get used to really bad basketball because there is no way Teague is coming back for his fifth year.

Hard for me to blame the officiating when we turn the ball over 20 times and give up 14 offensive rebounds. Yeah, I get the cliche that you can only "control what you control", but you just indicated that BSU made too many controllable mistakes. Basketball is a game that doesn't tolerate mistakes, it's also a game of "runs", and it's a game of breaks. You leverage a break that is provided to you. Kent State having an inexcusable charge and a travel are their mistakes, should've been called, and would've provided the breaks a struggling team like BSU needs to secure the win. MAC refs need to do their jobs. Their controllable mistakes are costing a team a win. This time, it was us.

I would much rather win, but it still would have been another shit performance. We aren't close to being a solid team and next season is going to be a lot worse.

*BSU bench out scored and out rebounded the Kent bench. So there's that.
*20 turnovers......bad.
*What's become of Mallers?
*On track for a tourney first round road game. If things continue like this, that will be the merciful bullet in the head of a dismal season. Will the AD and the admin tolerate this? I'd have to guess: Yes.

The free pass will be injuries, Sherm.

The free pass will be we can't afford a full buy-out. They need to ask Whitford to resign and see if he will negotiate a settlement.

Dumping Whitford now would cost a 3-year contract buyout. No way the University does that. After next season a 2-year buy-out might be doable and certainly a 1-year buyout the following year would be highly likely, as a lack of extension then would derail any recruiting of players who could clearly see their new coach wasn't going to be around more than their freshman year.

I do not know if you guys can see this on TV but Persons is literally coaching this team. If so Coach Persons should have done something to straighten out the guy wearing his number a couple of times. No lack effort by anyone but some pretty sloppy guard play, forcing some shots.
Loved player persons effort down the stretch, though. The entire team played very hard and did not fold, so give Coach Persons some credit there, too.

Horrible basketball! I’d rather watch a game at the Y on any given Saturday than this crap. Awful by both teams! Cards played ugly but hard. Too bad Billy Taylor didn't have #23 on his teams....I am getting tired of seeing teams kill us with that. We defend with effort for almost 30 seconds and they drain a long jump shot while guarded in the last 5 seconds.

You control what you can control which is our play. We continue to play bad basketball and we have no control over the officials. None. We have 3 kids on redshirt and our starting center for next year is a stiff, meaning he is not very good. Our coach and poor recruiting, no true point guard and no post , and roster management has put us in this position. There is really no more to it. We have no one to blame but the guy who is in charge of the program. I hate ugly games too. Huggiins looked like a freshman, I am a little more optimistic about his future. But he didn't lose this game any more than our senior star did who did not have a stellar game, despite both playing pretty hard.
With our center this year on the bench injured along with Hazen and Ish, this was bound to be ugly. Kids playing out of position, no depth. I can't blame the coach as much as you do with 3 of his top 8 out injured.

Yes, that uncalled travel was just salt in the wound. Officiating was completely abysmal in OT. Kent got 29 points off our turnovers today, just sayin'. That said, 2/3 of the crew today was absolutely atrocious. From non-calls on travels and obvious charges along with the turnover on Mallers, it is the same thing year in and out in this league. Do we not pay crews enough to get quality? Worse, former MAC officials move on to the Big Ten and call a completely opposite style. How do member schools expect anyone to pay good money for these games when the league appears committed to this bullshit? When members of our coaching staff (Grunkemeyer) are restrained from going after referees, it says a little something. Whitford and other coaches were pretty hot, too. It was not just bad calls but inconsistent. Players had to be distracted a bit by that, and our momentum was hurt several times by refs calls, no calls.
That Kent took away so much from us on that high ball screen and we turned over the ball so much were things we might have controlled. We surely were no where near sharp, but should have won an ugly game.

He isn't a Freshman, he has been with this team almost two full seasons. He isn't suddenly going to develop into a good ballplayer. This is another example of horrible roster management.

Get used to really bad basketball because there is no way Teague is coming back for his fifth year. Spoke with a relative of his here for the game, who disagrees.
