I'd probably be a little more surprised if he left, not so surprised if he stayed. I think players like Teague and Persons like it as BSU because, as has been said, Whitford lets them be themselves. Would they be better off elsewhere, be better basketball players with a different coach? I think they certainly could be. But they don't/didn't really want that. That's why they're at BSU ... because Whit lets them be themselves. Winning and losing? Less important. It's a different situation though, I don't think Persons had a better alternative. Teague will garner more interest, and needs to find a place to better showcase his skill set if he intends to make some real money playing in Europe. You are correct that he needs to do that to achieve those goals. But ... does he realize that he needs to do that? Players don't choose a coach like Whit because they want to be bad. They don't realize what's good for them. Teague wants to run up and down the court, shoot 3s, play somewhat like a guard. That's what he was doing last year when he was going 0-6 from 3 during games. Now, perhaps in the past year he's learned that there's a more effective way for him to play and that Whit isn't the coach to get him there. If that's the case, he'd transfer, if eligible. But, I'm not banking on him actually having learned that lesson, and I'd be more inclined to think that he's probably buying into the "things will be better next year when we don't have all the injuries" line.

The free pass will be injuries, Sherm. That AD speech will be.... ...how she understands that there were high expectations going into this year ...how she, along with the fan base, were disappointed with the unfortunate number of injuries to key players ...how she and Whitford have discussed what needs to be done to present a positive direction moving forward ...how Whitford has her continued support and understands the departments expectations for the basketball program Beth, You can reach me on my cell and I’ll clean this up and add the proper verbiage for the presser.

I ended up sitting pretty close to her today.. I will say this she was really into the game.. She had a little notebook taking some sort of notes. She was also looking like she was going rip some mans balls off at the end. She climbed over three row of seats to get to the floor. Not sure what her mission was but she was on one

You cheated and stole that from the “we’re keeping coach Neu” press release.

Everything is going to plan! Whitford is working towards a play-in game to get his returning injured players an extra game to get up to speed! It’s the prime example of Occam’s razor. He may be smarter than all of us!

After several drinks tonight my take on today's debacle. - What adjustments do we make at halftime and on the court? - Ball State teams under this coach are fundamentally weak and show little improvement during a season. Poor passing, weak blockouts and screens are telling with this program. Rebounds, turnovers, and points off those turnovers hurt most teams but mediocre to bad teams like we have it is a killer. - Lack of preparation. Postgame on the radio we had a coach whine about 5 guys on the floor who were "shakey" on press offense. Hello, that is inexcusable by the Coaching staff! As few players that are on this bench currently, ALL of them should have been prepared. What in the hell do you practice on and with what players? - The two inbound plays towards the end were pathetic. Yes, Mallers was mugged but he should have never been the option. And why didn't he hold the ball high so God and country would have witnessed a foul? And why didn't we run some kind of screens to free a Walton down the floor for a long pass? And why didn't Persons throw it down the middle away from the sideline? That was a pathetic play call by Whitford coming out of a TO especially after the previous end court play.
I totally agree that the officials today were bad, but so was our coaching. I can only hope our AD would ask Whit to resign and negotiate a buyout, six years of this garbage is way too long to endure. But alas, this is BSU sports.

Our current conference play is just the beginnings of a shrewd publicity campaign. When we go on a roll and win the MAC tournament, all the talking heads will be talking about good ol' BSU.
Who'll be he most unworthy tournament participant? BSU.
Who'll draw the No. 1 tournament seed? BSU.
Good teams throughout the land will look to Muncie to see the team that took their spot in the dance. Our Cardinals.
At that point we will bask in the glory of the nationwide media limelight.

Are any of you REALLY surprised? I honestly didn't expect this team to lose their first 4 MAC games at home. I expect the collapse to start a little later.

The three by KJ to end regulation was unreal. Losing Teague to fouls, I thought would be the end of the game. The team did show fight to stay in the game, tie it, almost win it. There were some real bad no calls by the refs, is it just me or does the MAC not want to see a successful Ball Stater program? We seem to almost always be at the.opposite end of the foul calls. However, the turnover at the end of the game should never have happened. The steps by Kent should never have allowed the winning basket. Sad.

The MAC didnt tell Tom Collins to extend Billy Taylor after a misleading 7-9 MAC West title in 2008-09, nor did the MAC tell Mark Sandy to give Whitford a 3 year extension after a 10-8 MAC campaign. History repeated itself.
