I suppose everyone realizes that those here who take such comfort in BSU's orthodox way of doing things have nothing to worry about. There is about a 99.99% chance BSU's next coaching hire will be made in the usual way, from the usual pool, with a usual contract, and with the usual 6 year tolerance of mediocrity/failure.
You can go on hoping that some marginal increase in money will turn the situation around.

99% too pessimistic.
Besides, this forum loves a long shot strategy.

See cardfan has faith in me.. I just have to channel my football expertise into basketball terms It’s long been rumored that you and Cardfan are one in the same due to a software glitch in Alan’s website. Many envision that you(s), due to the lopsided “post counts”, are locked up in a dark closet with a laptop, slingTV and a fast internet connection. I, for one, don’t believe this type of TMZ witch-hunt and respect the opinion(s) of both. Who’s buying the beer when we 🦇 are escorted to the border to wait out the selection process? Shit now this throws a monkey wrench into everything.

99% too pessimistic. Besides, this forum loves a long shot strategy. I sort of think hiring anyone from the staff of Sean "Thug Ball" Miller and expecting anything but a doofus is a long shot strategy with almost no upside potential. Whitford was a terrible hire from the very start.

Whitford was a terrible hire from the very start. Not a big fan of the Millers, but they have been successful, so saying no upside is a overboard. Whitford was assistant at a successful program, not a terrible hire on most counts of what a young cheap coach has to offer.

Would you quit this "cheap" nonsense, BSU pays Whitford far more than dozens of more successful young D1 coaches. Whitford is making double Mart Simmons salary at Evansville and the results aren't any better.

Here's why the BSU administration will never adopt anything like my plan, nor will they ever use any method different from the other mid-majors, nor will they look for a coach from a different pool of candidates.
The types of people in the administration don't really mind failure....but they are terrified of being blamed for failure. As long as they just do what everyone else is doing, they minimize the blame they might receive. On the other hand, if they try something different and innovative, they become a lightening rod for blame.
Mid-major athletics is, in general, a money losing joke, but administrations are scared to make any significant sort of change.
Make no mistake, my plan carries significant risks. Hiring a coach with minimal track record means that some previously unexposed flaw could emerge once you turn over the program to them. This is why the ability to pull the plug early is a key feature of my plan. Actually, it should be a key feature of any coach hiring plan, but my plan explicitly admits and accepts it. The standard current methods, on the other hand, also involve risk but focus on denying and extending mistakes, rather than rectifying them.

I'm disappointed. I thought the Sherman Plan would include a march to the sea, and maybe the burning of Atlanta, Indiana.
