All the good stuff he says but when you look at Win projections its 4.3 which does fit about where I think its heading.. I gotta think Neu needs 6 to have a chance

I say he can go 5-7 if one win is over IU.

"I spend a lot of time talking.... about what FBS programs are capable of and what they might be able to build. I enjoy watching how coaches attempt to move their program forward, and I hate it when extenuating circumstances — large swaths of injury, sanctions, etc. — prevent them from executing their plan.
Over the last two seasons, we’ve barely been able to see Neu’s plan in action. We’ve seen through the years that despite the financial and geographical limitations that most MAC teams suffer, BSU is capable of pretty good football. "
The article surprises me a little. That cold objective computer projection of 4 wins makes it look like we are playing a murderers row. It's pretty early to think every MAC team we play is that good. So there is some reason not to be that pessimistic.
It's not that I am all that optimistic exactly, but he also correctly says we could win 6 or 7 games with a break, or two, or three or four.
This is BSU, I guess we should not be counting on good luck too much here.

After what we have seen lately I have no reason to think we can beat IU or even FAU.. Deff not beating NC State so Im looking at 1-3 non con. That means we have to win 5 MAC games.. Who are we beating? Its going to be a tough road.. We are going to need to be much improved.Healthy, lucky and the stars to align.

I really see no reason to not be pessimistic.
Every year I look to be surprised, and then.....I’m not.
It is best for all our mental health to expect the worst and then get our most satisfying entertainment from the “Muncie Person of the Year” thread.

Hey, that’s the beauty of being a fan. Always should be optimistic until reality sets in (ok, not in this group). Aka, being a Cubs fan over the years.
Looking forward to next season for sure. Go Cards!

4-8 this year is not acceptable! Not at all but I cant wrap my head around a way to get to 6 which is probably what Neu needs to stay. I cant find five wins

4-8 this year is not acceptable! Not at all but I cant wrap my head around a way to get to 6 which is probably what Neu needs to stay. I cant find five wins 4.3 says the computer. So there must be a 30% chance based on their current data. But based on their assumptions it looks bad.
Do you think the schedule as listed in the article is as tough as they say? That would be a question. If so, we could be vastly improved and still not get more wins.
Is improvement or only the record the issue? If we are a top 100 team in power rating apart from wins, is that "satisfactory" progress?
How about if to get to 4 or 5 wins it was due to players who are young and we could project much better, a winning record the next year, would that make a difference?
