You know, I referenced Joanie Loves Chachi as a gold standard of bad TV shows, but I don't think I ever actually saw it. I remember Joanie from Happy Days, of course, and I vaguely remember Scott Baio's immortal portrayal of Chachi, but I can't personally vouch that their spin-off show was really that bad. You just always see it referenced as a classically bad show. I mean....I'm sure it wasn't good.
So that got me thinking....what was the worst show I ever actually watched? You all may be surprised, but I'm going to go with the later seasons of MASH. Now maybe it wasn't as bad in absolute terms as some other things I've seen, but it was the most painful to watch because you naturally compared it to the earlier seasons.
EVERY character replacement was a major downgrade: Frank Burns (from Ft. Wayne!) > Charles Whatshisname. Henry Blake > Sherman Potter (despite his cool name), and then Trapper John was vastly superior and more likable in every way compared to the unwatchable "BJ". Then you had people who were adequate in minor parts taking on too much air time - Hot Lips and Klinger. And what's probably worse is that the writing of the show went from funny and irreverent to preachy and smug. I think it was a forerunner of a lot of the nauseatingly woke stuff you see today.
Yes, I think I might even prefer to watch CMU at EMU on that ridiculous gray field. Or maybe I would just gouge my eyes out to avoid the choice.

Good questions and I would love to hear your casting thoughts I'm thinking RC could be the Wilson character behind the fence. He is pretty pragmatic in his comments. I think we save the Quagmire character for when ever the Zima/Fiero/"My Lady" goofball decides to re-appear under yet another persona.

Ive watched so much bad TV I could not even begin to think of what might be the worst show I have ever seen. One stands out it was some "reality" show on MTV about a ski lodge it lasted literally only 1 week. SO bad...

Sherm isn’t wrong with later seasons of MASH not being very good. I couldn’t stand the “BJ” character. Over the top preachy and feeling sorry for himself. Hard to watch him.
I’m trusting that Rob writes us better material than that.

That one was really bad. The worst show I have ever seen was a sitcom from the late eighties called Check It Out. It starred Don Adams (Get Smart) as grocery store manager.

I’m trusting that Rob writes us better material than that. I think they had sort of turned the entire show over to the gigantic douche pool Alan Alda at that point. The last few years are almost unwatchable.

With the cast you've assembled, I picture this as a teen-written fanfic (maybe based on the Twilight series)...
