Blue collar plays and max effort. Those sound better than “the process” and “playing the right way.” Sure seem to get results too.

They were trying to score more vs Ou in one game than we did in two. They almost pulled it off.

Ball State once had a blue collar coach and blue collar players. He was very successful taking the Cards to the Sweet Sixteen. BSU fired him. Later fired the AD who hired him. That AD was just inducted into the BSU Hall of Fame.
And y'all think the Cards can once again be dominant in any sport with this kind of administration?
Dream on.

RF I don't think anyone on this board realistically believes BSU will be dominant again given the current (and past) administration's failures. What we all do have is hope that one day things may turn around. However we are all also startlingly aware which hand fills up faster when you fill one with hope and the other with shit.

I kind of have a love/hate thing going on with Oats and his comments about this season. Trying to blow everyone out, leaving starters in even during blowouts, post-game comments about not blowing out teams by large enough margins. It rubs me the wrong way, but I totally get it. They are playing the ranking system game, and thus need the blowouts to move up in the rankings. The seedings this year are going to be interesting, particularly if UB somehow loses in the MAC tournament. Side note: Wouldn't it be grand to be in a position to have the above concerns?

Buffalo's arena holds 6800 and they are averaging 5700 for conference opponents.
If the Cards were in the same situation, would Worthen be sold out in this era vs. our hey-day years in the 1990's?

Win or lose we will get 3000 for every game.. Id say 5500-6500 if were consistently good for a couple years We'd have done that or a little better in the heyday. But population and other demographics being what they are, I wonder if our current ceiling isn't 4000-5000.
Not only can Buffalo can attract casual fans who want a game on a random night, but have many more alumni living and working in town who would regularly attend. We'd have to get fans willing to come from Indy and FtW.
In the heyday Muncie population (and income level) was significantly higher with strong Muncie Central following to come to see MC players on the roster. More faculty lived in town, everything was more likely to contribute to attendance. Not to mention scheduling a few more good games on home schedule, even Purdue, Butler occasionally.

Butler didn't draw jack shit to Muncie in the 90's. Their contribution to our crowds was maybe their coaches wives and that's about it. Butler was a Podunk afterthought. We out drew them in Hinkle.

If we were nationally ranked for several straight weeks I do believe we would draw 7-8k on the weekends and 5-6k on the weeknight games.
