You know if a fan wants to believe we lost that game primarily because of poor shooting ... I guess that's his choice. My fear is that fan is probably echoing the coaching staff's feelings, which is much, much scarier, and the reason we'll never win much of anything with this coach. You can't fix the problems if you don't recognize the problems. I hope our current AD isn't as sympathetic to excuses about injuries to reserves.

Failing to counter is a main theme with this coach.

I think our wifi signal is broken. I curse autocorrect and the horse it rode in on. Hahaha I know the feeling.. Most of the time I post from my phone while working.. Fat fingers, auto correct and this weird jumping around thing my phone does leads to some odd sentences. I get home and get on my laptop at night and re read my ramblings off the day.. Sometimes they just do not make a bit of sense lol

I agree that we were very poor in the 2nd half but the starters lost this game...I thought Hazen and Ish played better than most starters.
I’d change the starting line up and insert Hazen for Mallers as Mallers can not buy a shot and seems to have no confidence offensively

We’ve been losing a helluva lot of bets this year. I guess all our losses are just unlucky. No. But I would agree every win and every loss probably has some element that is random that contributes. Sometimes decisive, not always.
We were unlucky with injury. Several losses could be traced to that. Several losses were games where we would have had to be damned lucky to beat a flat out better team. Some a tossup at the end. We have not had a lot of good luck on any of coin flips.
This is your most lame drivel ever. I'll tell you what - let's also subtract any wins we had where other teams weren't at full strength due to injuries, suspensions, or just off shooting nights. Every team has injuries. We have been fortunate enough to not have any to our starters during this abysmal display of "basketball".

But, you surely aren't saying we were "lucky" this year. Not so far.

This game a nightmare shooting performance. We could have covered the spread easily with our season average shooting. Central gambled second half we would not. Won the bet. Yep, we all know there is no way to counter an overly aggressive defense. Almost always that is to hit open shots...we did not.

But never poorly coached. Surely he could have done a bit better at times. But, he cannot make a coaching adjustment to have shooters miss shots. In this game, I didn't like every decision, but I did not see any clear path to change that shooting. Unless you want to see him put in Nehls and Gunn in for a long period. And tell them to fire it up.

We could end up sub.500. “Luck.”
Or maybe whit should have recruited some shooters?

Yes, coaches can make adjustments when shooters are missing shots. Some might call it running an offense that can score in more than one way, attack at multiple levels. Even just crashing the offensive boards. A well-coached team has lots of ways to score. We do not. The Cards? Outside shots not falling ... well that's all we got so just keep chuckin' 'em up there boys. As Reevo and Sweep have pointed out, if Whitford is going to play only one way and he can't recruit the players to play that way ... that's all on the coach.

Most people have criticized him for not getting size, I recall I have disagreed a little, but valued shooting more than this forum, wanted more shooting and one more big man in every class, too. But we have not been losing because of size inside as much as the shooting.
We put a premium on athleticism which I understand. I don't think he expected great shooting out of this team, but he did expect more than we got this game. And only slightly better shooting would have been enough this game, for example.
But, you may have a point, that with hindsight he went wrong not getting one more shooter.
