Guys I really hate to say but I kinda think we are screwed. We have coaches leaving, Players leaving and we are heading into spring ball without a DB coach.. Our secondary is one unit that really needs coaching. If its possible to enter a season with more questions than we did last year we are going to do it this year. The difference is know the questions extend to off the field.. I am going to stop short of using the term Dumpster fire but damn it feels way. Im not just bitching to bitch because I love Ball State Football and I want them succeed but none of this looks good. As far as the QB situation its probably PLitts to lose at least at the start. Plitt is fun gunslinging sumbitch.. I like it cause he pushes it down the field and it gives us a chance. The problem with him is the turnovers you just cant turn it over as much as he does. Everything I have heard about paddock is he can read defenses and he is deadly accurate. The knock if any is whether he has the arm to make all the throws and his size. All we have heard is coach speak, interviews from HIgh school guys and a few of the recruiting services. Without question though everyone has said the dame thing and that he is the real deal. Dunner to WR is interesting not sure if he can line up outside but If we can get a reliable deep threat and have Dunner and Hall catching balls in space then we could be pretty good at WR. RB I kinda like have Huntley as the feature back. I was not a big fan of the 4 back rotation. Rb's need touches to get going in and out you never really get going OK, Dunner was one of the fastest guys on the team, but wouldn't moving him to WR, instead of throwing to him out of the backfield, seem to indicate that none of the other receivers that we were hoping would and anticipating to step-up, haven't More coach talk about how they were improving ?

I have the same question. All These WRs we recruit and they can’t get on the field and you gotta move a running back out there? Either our player scouting and evaluation is horrible or the wr coach isn’t good enough.

Agree with both of you I think part of it has to do with keeping HUntley on the roster.. He was close to transfering as well. I agree though we have a 15 receivers on the team all ready

Dunner is really quick, but IMO, he goes down easily and doesn't run well in tight spaces. He needs open field, so I think putting him at WR and getting him into space where he can do his thing is not such a bad idea.
If our other WRs can't match his performance, or vice-versa, then the better for the team.

It’s fair, but also an indictment of guys alleged to be studs who were recruited as WRs. When a transplanted RB is a better wr than your WRs.....
But yes it’ll make better use if his skill sets. IF he can catch.

IF he can catch. I think it is a "wait & see" situation. Dunner is fast. Does he have good hands, especially under pressure? Can he elevate? He is small. Dunner goes down pretty easily on contact. A good WR finds yardage after the catch.

With Huntley, Hurt, and Evans I think the RB position can be pretty good. Even the walk-on Jones looked pretty decent. Dunner seemed like an all or nothing back, getting big chunks of yards or nothing. I think having Huntley as the main guy could provide a more consistent running game. I'm guessing the move was made because the coaching staff felt good about the other RBs and thought they could better utilize Dunner's skill set as a WR. I don't necessarily think it is a knock on the other WRs.

I think Neu wants to get his most explosive offensive players on the field at the same time. So having Dunner out there frequently with Huntley , Hall, Miller, & Tyler is what he will try to do.

Coming out of the backfield and making catches is a lot different than lining up and running routes. Unless he’s a just go deep guy trying to run past coverage, I wonder about his knack for route running and fighting for contested balls. Also, as said earlier, how good are his hands? Hopefully they have seen some things that are encouraging.
Does anyone know if he played some WR in HS?

I think dunner played some wr in hs but had been RB only at bsu. He’s a good all purpose back. But WR? Seems more of an experiment and a move to keep Huntley happy. And I know spring depth charts don’t mean much but how do you automatically put him #2 on the chart without him earning a spot at a new position.

Dunner's hands on passes to the flats improved last year, but to say he has WR hands is a big stretch at this point.

Plitt's arm isn't real strong, so Paddock's would have to be pretty weak for that to be an issue. Finally, Jackie Gleason would be proud.

Anyone been able to visit the sidelines yet? Wondering how things are looking so far, haven’t been able to make it up like I thought.
