I think German may lead league in scoring but they will have no one else & EMU loses their big 3 & probably the coach. WMU loses Dugan & Davis so Hawkins will bring in some Saquatch to grab people at center but they won't be much better.Toledo loses Sanford, Darrington & Navigato will spend next yr lamenting this tourney loss. I think Montgomery will return @ NIU next yr primarily because they can not afford buy out if he goes German goes too. CMU will be team to beat by default.

You know, when BSU sponsors half court shots during timeouts, they take out an insurance policy in case a student hits the shot and wins $10,000.
Actuarials have forecasting algorithms to predict the odds.
It seems like the BSU Athletic Department could find insurance policies that guard against the failure of coaches to produce winning seasons , or conference championships. If BSU could find the right policy, they could hedge on the buyout cost of dumping a coach that underachieves, and we wouldn’t have to wait out their buyout clause.
Just saying, there has to be a way to hedge against lame duck ADs who are biding their time until retirement, that just happen to agree to extensions for coaches that are marginal.

So what's this team look like with Whit returning next yr. I think the schedule gets much weaker to get wins but the tourney in Hawaii will bring some losses. MAC West EMU, NIU & WMU will be bad. Toledo won't be as good. Whit might be able to play with the west. Several of those other MAC West teams might have new coaches. Hard to tell how they'll shape up. Well all their fans will have new hope and we will be here with the same ole same ole.. Bitching about the same things.. Eventually bowing out to some east team. Probably BG again

Yes MAC schools could learn something by Ohio's handling of Phillips wait 5 yrs & if your not doing a good job bring in someone else rather than be like EMU,NIU & BSU not having money to get rid of coaches do to buy outs from prior extensions hastily given.

You guys totally whiffed on the strategry of Whitford. You take your can’t miss team, play a tough non-con schedule, tank the league schedule and finish around.500. THEN you come back next year with a weaker schedule and most of your team back and win 18-20 games which parlays to another contract extension and the wheel keeps turning and turning and...

well we could pay to play in the abcdef tournament. Why not Surely, dragging this program's rotting carcass to some pay-in tourney is too stupid, even for BSU.

We do not deserve to play in ANY post season tournament and frankly while some of it’s on the Coach some is on the players.
For instance, KJ has ability as a slasher and defender but needs to work with a shooting coach to become somewhat of a threat from 18-20 feet, Mallers needs to take 200 shots daily and get his confidence back! Gunn needs to work on defense and putting the ball on the floor more, Teague needs to get stronger and improve from 15 feet in, Hazen needs to put up lots of shots and get stronger, I thought Ish finished pretty well coming back from injury!
Our transfers need to live in the gym! I’m telling you Acree can play and Bumbalough should learn the system and be ready to play the PG spot from day one.
Point is we have a level of talent but need to work extra hard to get better every day
Part is on the Coach but there is a level of responsibility on our players to get better

Well, we can retire the "Jimmy One Win" moniker. It's now "Jimmy Two Win" or "Jimmy Two-Fifty" (2-6)

kid is on the money. Guys on the team need to be self motivated. Maybe that is no longer the case with most young people today in the age of snowflakes.
First things first. KJ needs dental work. Implant or crown? Can't believe he came back into the game after the trauma to the mouth.
Go Cards!

After that it’s the COACH who must motivate and inspire these 18-23 year old kids. It’s also the COACH who must implement a system and game plan that will make us successful and lastly the COACH must recruit the very best talent and the right kind of kids to play in his system, ones who are not just skilled but smart and tough minded! Let’s make sure there is no confusion or deflection on who is PRIMARILY responsible for our success or failure, OK? Everything you mentioned are COACHABLE things.

Who saddled Whitford with all these un-self-motivated kids anyway?

Not sure why but it just seemed fitting lol You should delegate all the family's sports-related decisions to your sensible wife.

It would be nice if Coach would recruit self motivated young men. But how does one know?
lt's been a horrible season for college basketball in Indiana, except for the Boilers. IU, Butler, Notre Dame, Valpo, Indiana Sate, all going no where. What kind of water are y'all drinking?
