Wear the hat and use it as a prayer cap. Pray for all good things that will happen to Ball State sports this coming year. As we all know, we are ''praying for a vic-tor-ry''.

Like a flag, you burn it. I just can not do that Understood. I suggest removing it from Indiana, perhaps a place of honor on a coat rack somewhere far away. And call it a shrine if you wish. Just get it and it's mojo out of the immediate vicinity of BSU.

If only we could do the same with our coach. but...you know....certain people wanted that extension.

If only we could do the same with our coach. but...you know....certain people wanted that extension. I was a Whitford fan;I thought we had really turned the corner with him. I thought many of you were too harsh on him. But even I didn't understand the extension. I thought Whit still had to prove himself down the stretch and he was winless in the conference tournament.

I thought many of you were too harsh on him. But even I didn't understand the extension. I thought Whit still had to prove himself down the stretch and he was winless in the conference tournament. We "understood" it. It was intended to do two things. Both were logical enough. But not overwhelming reasons to do it either.
One was to bolster Whitford's recruiting and hope to put him over the top with kids who could count on having him as coach. And two, it was an outright gamble that he would be successful and then if he left buyout was bigger and replacement salary was built in. But it was gamble.
Your objection was quite reasonable and defensible. Too many at the time were too harsh, I agree.
In fact very few if any were enthusiastic or "wanted" it badly, but at the time it was defensible, too. I can't fault him so much. 20-20 hindsight is helpful at this time.

Yeah well my "20-20 hindsight" occurred about .000001 second after I heard about the extension....as it did for several others around here. So you can just stuff that phrase right back up the orifice it came out of.
You, on the other hand, were FOR the extension...whatever sort of weasel words you want to apply. And the extension is why BSU is once again in the idiotic position of waiting out a failing lame duck coach....same as Buckley, same as Taylor. After two fairly recent disasters, BSU went right ahead and made the exact same mistake a third time. And you were FOR it. Repeat: you were FOR it. I'll be helpfully reminding you of this on a constant basis.

I defended it as reasonable. Not really all that much for it before made. Was reasonable either way.
That you decided immediately doesn't say anything about the odds it would work at the time. As it happened AD can't brag about his view...

That you decided immediately doesn't say anything about the odds it would work at the time........... No. I thought it was an awful idea as well, it's called intelligent thought. Give it a try..........................

Give it a try.......................... Lots of decisions in life have two reasonable contradictory courses of action. have to choose one. No sure thing. Doing nothing was an alternative but had risks too. As I said (repeatedly now) I could defend either course. Certainly can't say I liked either one all that much. AD has to act, doesn't have the luxury of just posting their preference and arguing about it for years.
That somebody shoots from the hip on close calls isn't always intelligent thought, but I understand the choice Sherm made.

Well it was quite clear to some of us what a bad decision it was. Quite clear. In simple terms: we were RIGHT and you were WRONG. And now we'll feel the consequences of the bad decision that you supported for...what?...the next two years or so? Failed, lame duck coach parked in our laps because of the extension you supported. What fun! His failures will be YOUR failures, as I will be pointing out repeatedly. You made continual excuses for him, you talked up his methods, you supported his extension....and you own him.

I have not read all the recent postings but we are still just talking in circles and arguing only to argue.. Bottom line we flat out stunk this year. Blame whit shooting or personel it does not matter. Its not going to be better next year. We might surpass this years win total but wins that matter are not coming anytime soon. We are not winning the MAC or going to a real tournament. We are in a rut till someone/something changes. Enjoy another couple years of middling fellas Come on man do you have to be a depressing drunk! At least when I get drunk I'm a "happy and over optimistic" drunk!! That's why I drink to begin with to escape the realities like our BSU basketball and football team! Hell I don't have to be drunk to see how terrible those teams futures are!
