Thirty years after leading the bsu program to a school-record 29 wins and our first NCAA Tournament victory, Rick Majerus is headed for the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. #CBHOF

I am jealous of those who were Ball State fans in the 1988-89 season. I was 6 that year and didnt become a Ball State fan until I officially decided to attend BSU in March of 2001.

He was truly special. He captivated a room. Bored today,I watched the BSU - UNLV game. I know Dick was coach, but it was Majerus’ guys. Was fun to watch us exchange punches with those guys again. But the weak alioop towards Thompson, uuuuugh. Oh well.
i had shark the night of that game ...... didn’t help 😪

Irving Gym was insane. 6600 of your closest friends. Right on top of the court. Loud as hell. Even hotter. Watching the NCAA Tournament game at the Chug, beating Pitt. Storming the Village. Next year was even crazier, going to Detroit for the MAC Tournament and drinking more than I have ever had before or since. Back at the Chug for NCAA, after McCurdy tied it up against Oregon State, someone threw a beer and it knocked out the projector on our end of the room. Everyone had to run to the other side of the bar to see him hit the free throw. Saw the stoplight at University and Martin get torn down. Utter chaos. Definitely in the Top 5 highlights of my life.

Maybe not a highlight of everyone's life. But it was fun!
In basketball I remember a lot of games and tournaments, but our shining moment is up there with some championships and some really great games and players. It was one of those runs that really helped make the big dance more attractive to people too, a lot of people remember it.
Same run today might not be as big a deal having seen other mid majors have nice runs, even to the Final Four. It was our contribution to basketball lore. Historic.

The cops obviously took a pretty hands off approach to the rioting, which was probably, all-in-all, a good decision. But they really should have stopped the stoplight being torn down. There could have easily been a fatality if it had happened to land on someone. It's just sheer luck there wasn't a tragedy, and we would all be remembering the whole thing a lot differently. You don't realize how big and heavy those things are when you just see them hanging up there. I was standing on the little porch by the Muglys entrance as it happened.

Yeah the stop light was too much. That should never have happened.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.

Whatever. There's this moment as a BSU fan and then there's everything else.

Quick story:
I had the opportunity to attend the win over Pitt in Indy and partied after at Ike and Jonsies where we literally danced on tables. Attended the loss to Kendall Gill and the Illini a few days later. The next year I was at the Oregon State game sitting next to Dr Reity. Dr says might as well go now but being the optimist I’m saying we can pull it out. We were down two and Gary Peyton and Co had the ball and as I recall had to go the length of the floor but a bad pass gave us the ball out under our basket with about 3 secs to go. Coming out of a timeout Paris hits about a 12 footer and is fouled...OSU calls time out to ice the trash talkin McCurdy who nails it to win something like 51-50. We beat Louisville next which atttending was so fun! As I remember they had Felton Spencer and a pretty good guard who’s name escapes me.
Luckily got to attend Oakland for the UNLV matchup it’s a shame we didn’t get Loyola Marymount first but you got to beat the best to be the best.
