Big mostly online fundraising campaign going on for 24 hours.. If you click the link you can see who is leading in terms of getting gifts and money raised etc... oneballstate.bsu.edu/giving-day/10882/department/13832A couple things stand out right away.. So far 215,000 grand raised from 1800 gifts.... thats not a whole lot of money Athletics leads total gifts off 300 over 244 from theater a dance Athletics leads in money raised Football leads in overall gifts with baseball coming in second.. Football has 53 gifts baseball has 40... Whats really interesting is the beloved basketball program has a total of 9 gifts What does this say? We often hear most people really do not care about Football this makes it look like the reality is most people really do not care about basketball

It should be pointed out that one really big donation will skew the totals way out of wack

Doing a little bit of math here:
Football loses somewhere between $5 and $10 million a year depending on what source you want to believe and whether or not you include the several women's sports made necessary by title IX combined with the huge number of male scholarships in football. and actually I haven't seen any figures for a couple of years. It may well be more now since BSU feels they have to follow the lead of the money conferences in having a new uniform and helmet for every game and an indoor facility and things like that.
So let's just roughly say BSU football currently loses $7.5 million a year. So far, the whole "one" campaign has raised an amount equal to 4% of the yearly football deficit.
I look at the donors to this campaign exactly as I look at the fat cretins who buy lottery tickets ahead of me in line at the gas station. It's an incredibly dumb way to lose your money, but if you're that stupid, you really don't deserve to have the money anyway....so I don't lose any sleep over the whole thing.

What does this say? We often hear most people really do not care about Football this makes it look like the reality is most people really do not care about basketball Maybe they know we are in great shape and all are buying the Sherman Plan where we don't really need any money to do well in basketball? But Football is in such trouble they are all pitching in?

Well your right and wrong.. Ill let you in on a little known secret We only have 3 different Helmets these were purchased 3 years ago and only replaced if damages.. We have a white/red/and black helmet.. All the variations are just stickers. I do get your point though

Yeah right. It would take about 10 pounds of balls to institute the Sherman Plan and the BSU administration collectively has about .003 ounces of balls.

Probably exceeds what most people think a new helmet costs.
