Neu is gone after this season. We gave him the opportunity to be a head guy and it’s failed. Let’s hope the BOT’s, President Means, and Goetz knock it out of the park on the next hire...

If we win 6 Neu stays...that is my best guess

To me very unclear. Budget issues.

Five wins and competitive in other games he stays IMO.
Surely hope team stays reasonably healthy which will certainly help in evaluating the team progress and his situation as HC.

I agree with that but that brings up a serious question. He can not stay on as a lame duck in the final year of a contract. Thats a death sentence for his recruiting and possibly the next head coach. So would 5 wins warrant a one or two year extension. Would we be happy with that?

If we could get him to agree to an extension with limited financial liability the university, maybe.

If recruiting has to take a hit for a year, so be it.

Unless things turn this years class is not going to be very good and next years would be worse. So your actually losing two years of recruiting good players

What we’ve managed to propagate at good ol bsu is constant and regular 5 year rebuilding jobs required of every football coach we hire. At the end of every tenure the recruiting will be so bad that the next guy will have an impossible task of closing ground on the other MAC schools and then he’ll be out. And so on and so on and so on.

So, what do you want to do? Extend weak coaches indefinitely?

Unless things turn this years class is not going to be very good and next years would be worse. So your actually losing two years of recruiting good players I would rather have let him go at the end of last season, to be honest. But the budget won't allow it. With the extreme cutbacks in athletics, he won't be fired after this season either, so we don't have a lot of options. He's going to finish out his contract.

Sad thing is I really like all of the members of the staff I have came into contact with. They are all really great guys and I want them to succeed so badly but you have to win games and they have just not been able to do that
