It’s way too early, but I wanted to start a thread for all things IU game. I think IU will win, but the game will be closer than last year. I think our defense will struggle with IU’s experience and fast paced offense, but I do think that we will have some success offensively, especially in the run game.

Whatever you guys are drinking I want some. This seems like the result of something stronger than drink.

IU 42-24. The only thing that gives me hope is that it’s the first game. You never know how each team will come out of the gate. I just don’t trust our defense enough to win the game.

No doubt walked into this asylum by mistake.

We have to have a running game that gets a 5 yd average like last yr & run the ball 50 times to keep our d off the field. Then we need a 3 plus turnover edge like they had last yr with us scoring off all of them yea tds would be nice.

Bottom line is the current staff/hc has not proven they can beat, well, anybody, so we’re not going to suddenly start beating big 10 teams with bigger, better and faster athletes.

You are correct, their BIG10 athletes are bigger and faster than ours. But if we play with heart their will always be a chance, no matter how small. We won three games in recent years and those conditions were the same then as well as today.

Except the conditions are not the same. The games where we beat Iu we had similar and in some cases better players. iU would not have competed that well in the MAC the years we beat them. Since then they’ve steadily improved their talent and have been to a couple of bowls while we..... have not.

In 2008 we were better than IU in just about every way.
Lembo's first year was also Wilson's first year. Lembo brought an intact staff and system from Elon whereas it was Wilson's very first game as a head coach. Lembo's second win I think we were pretty evenly matched, and Lembo still had it going on at that time. Now we have a coach in the hot seat, a terrible offensive system, and we don't play much defense. It is possible we will win this game, but definitely not the same conditions as our win years.

I have a son who is pretty accomplished little boxer. Problem is he weighs 53 pounds and is nine. He has heart and the will to do anything but he never has a sparring partner. Well last night we put is heart and will to test and let him spar a kid that weighed 12 pounds more than him. His heart and will got him through the first round and he looked pretty damn good. Then the bigger older kid realized he was bigger and stronger and no matter how much heart my kid had it did not matter. It got ugly fast and when panic set in for my son it was over and hard to watch. I had to go home and help pick up the pieces of shattered dreams and embarrassment. Life lesson and a pretty good analogy of what the IU game will be
