I did not get to see any of this but Riley is going to be what Riley has always been. Thats a guy who looks the part and every once in a while makes a throw that you see the potential. Problem is thats all that ever happens why would things be any different?

I agree with rm. What did Neal do in the time he was in Muncie that made you believe he would morph into something different? He is what he is. He is a kid that has some ability but he is not a great QB at this stage of his career. Vandy needed someone for a season and they picked Neal. A good kid that would not give them trouble and fill in for a short time period.

We totally failed on Gilbert. Or did Gilbert fail the team? I’m sure there was some undercurrent and not sure who’s to blame, but a coach wouldn’t purposely screw over a big talent and his team unless something was going on. Appears we have a pretty solid replacement anyway.

The Vandy fans have picked up on what we saw a lot of, Riley opting not make the pass and take off running. Getting through progressions quickly was an issue and it will only be harder against SEC defenses. Riley can make some really good throws when they are quick pre programmed throws where he gets the snap and throws it. I like/liked Riley but it just never really worked here. I hope things change and he has a great year and gets a shot somewhere

From what I saw in the 2nd half Vandy is playing with 5 new O Line starters & didn't give Neal much protection-just like last year. I think Riley made a mistake going with Vandy.

The moment Neu publicly insulted Gilbert (injured because of our staff's complete inability to recruit offensive line), I was done with Neu.

I just do not see any NFL team wasting any time on Riley. If he is signed as a free agent he will be used as canon fodder for a couple of weeks and cut. If Wenning cannot stick with a team Neal doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

The criticism of Neal by Vanderbilt folks is exactly the same as what was said while he was At BSU. He is what he is. But his size and mobility might intrigue a pro team somewhere as a project. He has “arm talent” as they say, he just is unable to use it. He’s a damn good kid so I hope something good happens for him.

"He made no drastic mistakes, but he rarely tested Georgia’s secondary beyond 10 yards." "Mason echoed his new quarterback. But he also criticized Neal for leaving the pocket too soon on a few plays rather than keeping his eyes downfield for a deep pass." Man. I thought I was reading a Star-Press article from the past few years.
