Yea your right Neu did take it over last year didnt he.. Either way play calling seems better and more aggressive which was needed

I suppose the play calling could also be the same but Plitt could be choosing to throw deep ball instead of checking down.. I have not seen a million three yard outs to the Wr

Yeah, Plitt is making a lot of throws Riley never would, and he's doing it without putting things too much in jeopardy. Even his INT today wasn't a totally terrible ball for someone who was about to get his ass sacked.
You know we used to be convinced that Joey was the issue with our lame offense. Then there was the question of whether Riley was the issue. And we still don't know, although I'm all in for giving them both equal credit.

I would agree that the offensive play calling is more wide open and better able to attack the opposing defense. However, something that confuses me is the use of Justin Hall; maybe it's my naivete, but as a freshman he seemed to have the potential of Dante Love. He (Hall) just doesn't seem that involved in the offensive scheme now. I've seen references to disciplinary action so that may be the explanation. I thought Hall would end up like Hazelton by transferring to a higher profile program; speaking of Hazelton, is he injured? Apparently, he hasn't played in any of Virginia Tech's games thus far in the season.

The missed fg then FAU TD before the half might be the difference in this game. Very deflating. 14 point turn around in 3 minutes when we failed to score a TD, then watched them do so with just enough time. A first down and TD by us instead of losing yardage leading to a futile long FGA would have been huge. Even just getting few more downs and staying in FG range...

Hall sat the first half for disciplinary reasons. He had 78 yards from scrimmage in the second half and they used him extensively.
Turnovers were devastating yesterday but other areas of concern were our line play on both sides of the ball and our extremely loose coverage on D. We got worked in the trenches. Plitt sacked five times and under duress much of the game while Robison had all day to throw and time for his receivers to get down field on our porous secondary. We played 10-15 yards off their WR’s and they still beat us deep. No pressure on the QB equals trouble.
Our offense is capable and I like the versatility. We should have hung 45 up yesterday but self inflicted wounds were too much. Our D has some playmakers but we’ve given up 104 points in three games. That’s just not good enough and it’s a hallmark of Elson defenses.

I can’t believe how many deep balls we give up. Over and over. I did not get there to midway second and I saw enough wide open receivers to give me nightmares Totally blown coverage on one TD was bad. We couldn't afford that with the number of times they had easy 10-15 yard completions...Too easy.

We shot ourselves in the foot and gave them the game. Five turnovers! Plitt with no time to pass still did a great job with 303 yds and three td’s. What would he have done if given time with our receivers? For the most part, I have enjoyed the offense. Defense still needs to step it up, are they capable - I think yes? What does the year hold. Can we get five MAC wins in a year when the MAC seems down? Don’t know.

The defense is just bad.

I do not think it would do any good to have a fire sale of the staff. That boat sailed long ago. It is sink or swim with this staff, with these players, and with these schemes. If Neu does not show improvements with a few wins it is back to square one.

Yeah, if you want to stay a head coach you have to part ways with unsuccessful coaches even if they are friends.
