I was private messaging with some guys the other day and I posed the question. Would Nue fire Elson if he had too. I would be ok with keeping Neu just for the sake of some continuity. I have nothing against the Lynch's but I'm still trying to figure out what they've got on the university. I want them to clean house with the staff and start aNeu.

Well are we of the opinion that if Neu fires Elson in the season for say NC ST getting 56 on us he gets another yr?( kind of like Lester firing Daust after we got 42 last yr)

Folks, we aren't firing anyone in-season, OK? And, the options we have are change the HC & staff at season's end if we go sub .500 in the MAC or if we go .500 in the MAC Neu likely gets at least a 1-year extension. If he stays, I don't see the AD dictating he makes changes to his staff and I doubt he will. He's an "all-in" guy when it comes to loyalty and he will go down with his guys if he must.
So, 5-6 gets a one or two year extension, 4-8 or worse likely gets shown the door. That's my prediction, not my preference.
IF, we stop turning over the ball and IF we can stop giving up 35 points a game then we could go .500 in the league. Our offensive weapons are pretty good and Plitt is better than I expected so far. I am concerned that our O-line has been a little shaky through three games. That was supposed to be a strength. I haven't looked at film so maybe they are playing better than it appears. But our bend don't break defensive scheme is just not a confidence builder for me. We don't look very stout when the offense turns the ball over. Maybe that can change but heading into homecoming at 1-5 or 2-4 against Toledo will put a lot of pressure on this team and staff. Guess we will see.

I meant to post this here earlier, it is a duplicate from the basketball forum.
I just don't think there is a good solution. And I doubt we can make a buyout and find money to make a good hire. Especially I think the idea of somehow making a cheap magic hire is not the gamble to make.
The cost of buyout and lack of budget to seek quality staff along with the risks in the job market hiring a cheap HC are primarily what prevent Sherman's theory of using a " different" candidate pool solving all problems.
Not that he makes much of a case that will work. Lembo was lower level, coming up to BSU. Lower than that he wants to try? D3? HS? Will such a hire be a guy able to recruit?
Where he is right is that AD and President are risk averse. Talking big gamble is just talk. Isn't going to happen. Just another shoestring hire is what we will get.
Hell, we did that "different" thing with Neu, hiring a coach with no HC or any D1 coaching experience at this level. We have paid a price for his OJT, not having good staff, managerial ability, and no budget for staff.
Now, after OJT, maybe he's now ready? Maybe not...
But either way the option we should consider is using the buyout budget for hiring better staff for him. E.G. gamble by hiring a DC with some experience in D1 but not enough to seek HC positions yet.
Gamble with some dollars there. Not with Sherman's 2 year and out theory.
