Honestly NIU might be our best chance. I know we can never beat them, but they seem to be a little worse every year. Aren't they the favorite to win the league? No, OU is favored.

I say Northern is our next win. I'd like to see an upset at NCSU! One can always hope.

I want to see us clean up all the crap. We’re not going to win down there but just play a clean game. And establish a consistent running game. Oline needs to play win more for force. Give Plitt more time. Basically display good fundamentals. Defense obviously needs to cover someone for once. I’d consider moving Wilbon back to LB. he’s really struggling at safety.

Id be surprised if BSU even comes within 10 of NIU given their history vs our guys.

The thought was we were really deep at LB and really thin and weak at safety. They thought the LB corp could still be good without Wilborn. Well Wilborn is goos at stopping the run from safety but he is confused and cant cover the receiver in the passing game. So now we are weaker at LB and the same at Safety. Just move Wilborn back and throw a scrub back out there who knows the spot. It cant get much worse

FAU's QB was a hot mess, and he still managed to pick our secondary apart. Our safeties are brutal.

He looks confused when he's not straight up getting beat.. Safety play and the lack of a pass rush are killing what could be a decent defense in my opinion. We've held up better than I expected against the run...so far.

We've held up better than I expected against the run...so far. Yep. Exactly. Spot on. I think the staff is making a serious mistake there. The kid can’t learn to play FS as quickly as they’ve thrown him in there. He’s at his best around the LOS. Watching him be 10 yards out of the play on any throw past 15 yards is frustrating. He’s doing the best he can with what little experience he has back there but so far it’s been a disaster for the pass d. The mix up that let the FAU wr have no one within 15-20 yards of him on one of the TD passes was exceptionally grievous.

If everyone is right, and you probably are, where is our next coach coming from? This is a program that is trouble that doesnt pay its assistants well , doesnt have a great football history, blah, blah, blah...I just do not have the energy any more. I am about ready to give up. It seems to be a fight for every dollar. A fight for piece of equipment, for every facility that everyone else already has. We are NEVER proactive, ALWAYS REACTIVE. No foresight only hindsight. As the old folk song goes...''The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind.''

It seems to be a fight for every dollar. A fight for piece of equipment, for every facility that everyone else already has. We are NEVER proactive, ALWAYS REACTIVE. No foresight only hindsight. As the old folk song goes...''The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind.'' Since we are in the MAC, we aren't dropping the sport. If you can't fund it, can't or won't drop it, the AD is in a bind. Maybe can't even do the usual kick the can strategy of buyout one year and hire a new coach, infusing the program with "hope" without expectations being very high for a couple of years.
All radical moves to create a winning MAC program are dubious in terms of success and sadly even if successful will be unlikely to create enough revenue to right the sinking financials. And as others have pointed out going down a level isn't all that much cheaper and if it means leaving the MAC is not easy to implement as a solution.
We are in a holding pattern where the goal is probably to preserve the sport and hope for something major to change with FBS football to lessen the pain. We are not the only school in this situation. Something has to give fairly soon.

Guys if EMU can beat 3 BT teams on the road in 3 yrs we can do the same thing with the right coach. EMU is not more attractive to most coaches or recruits. They had played 3 of their 4 Non conference games on the road for many yrs to bring in more money.

And I believe the EMU coach was D-III before the hiring?
