I don’t think they are getting enough credit for how improved they truly are. Been a pleasant surprise

Experience is hard to beat. I heard Phil Steele say one time the best way to judge an offense is the experience of the linemen. I would imagine he might say that about our defensive backs this season.

Remind me, do we have a new DC? If, so, when did he arrive on the scene?

I prefer not to jinx anything..., Don't be so superstitious. The Ball State curse is way more powerful than a jinx.

Tyler Stockton (Co-Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers Coach) joined David Elston (Defensive Coordinator/Cornerbacks Coach) this year. Mike Dietzel (Defensive Backs (Safeties) Coach) joined the staff this year.
Colin Johnson (Offensive Line Coach) joined the staff this year.
Jack Nudo (Graduate Assistant, Defense) joined the staff this year.
Joey Hecklinski (Graduate Assistant, Offense) joined the staff this year.
Phil Schron (Graduate Assistant, Defense) joined the staff this year.
Zach Greiner (Graduate Assistant, Offense) joined the staff this year.

7 games into the season, our defense has collected 11 INTs and only allowed 7 TD passes.
That is flipping unbelievable.
We've given up 16 TDs on the ground, which isn't great, but isn't awful when compared to the rest of the conference (Kent is the worst at 20, Buffalo is best with 8, and everyone else is within a few of each other in the middle). I'm just glad our DBs aren't getting routinely torched for touchdowns for once.

I agree, they're ranked 48th nationally in the FPI index defensively. They were in 100s in seasons past.
