Bellamy is the real deal. We will see him on Sundays. Elson is not. He's exactly who we thought he was. Their QB had 20 yards rushing the ENTIRE SEASON, yet over 100 at halftime. That's just football 101 - everybody doing their job. The only thing that's really improved on our D is our corners.
The first half game plan on offense was bizarre. Plitt's decision making makes we want to curl into a ball and rock.
Staffs have sufficient film on us now, and it's not so pretty.

The reality about this team is it’s nether physical enough or quick enough to stop the better offenses (or a good DE). We beat two bad teams and needed some luck to do so. We beat Toledo because they were in a really bad place mentally and they played the wrong backup QB. Basically the 3-0 start was fools gold.
What hasn’t changed is Elson is the d coordinator and we’re gonna get beat by the option and we’re gonna give up 3rd and 17 because scheme. On offense we don’t have oline that can pass block. Guessing they don’t move well enough. Plitt isn’t good enough to overcome that.
The honest truth is we are what we are// improved but still middle of pack in the West. I’m predicting we don’t win again. And man do I hope I am way wrong.

Well way back when I thought two of our maybe 3-4 wins would come over CMU and Kent so thats still plausible although CMU is better than we originally thought they were I still feel very confident in being able to beat CMU and Kent. CMU only has 1 road win this year (@ BG). They average less than 20 ppg in road games. There’s a good chance that Kent will be on a 4 game losing streak when we play them, and out of bowl contention. I can’t help but think a team’s demeanor and style of play would be worse than usual in that particular situation.

They are competitive in all of their games. The CMU game is yuge as I expected it would be anyway. The Cards *really* need to win that game and then Miami to get to bowl eligibility. I don't even know if they would be picked for a bowl game at 6-6 after all the conference agreements are met but it would be a feather in Neu's cap to say he got them to .500. And I agree on that Elson is bad but players get some culpability too. You can't tell me that a DC at the D-1 level didn't teach his players how to defend the QB run against Ohio or it's all his fault that the secondary bit really hard (that's what she said) on those two Ohio flea flicker plays. They got so freaking lucky they weren't caught or it would have been a blowout.

obviously this was a game we could have one, but does anyone else have the feeling that next year could be our year in the mac?

obviously this was a game we could have one, but does anyone else have the feeling that next year could be our year in the mac? With a couple of adjustments, an improved kicking game, and a couple of play makers on each side of the ball, yes. I think we should be really good next year.

The closest home game Western had before us was a 31-15 win against CMU. Everything else was a major blowout. We gave them a great fight and nearly pulled off the upset. Nothing to be ashamed about there.

Are we losing some seniors? If so that could offset the progress in other areas.

We’re still a relatively young team. Have to get it done next year.

Three in a row and the usual happened, people got greedy. Most predicted 4-6 wins this season and it looks like that is what it will be. Maybe we need a new Defensive Coordinator or some new schemes and some tweeking on both sides of the ball but we are a losing program learning how to close a game with a lead. It is frustrating but we all have to be calm and not throw the baby out with the bath water. If we win another game or two the AD will have a very important decision to make regarding Neu's future in Muncie. Last year's team would have lost to this club easily by 21 points. Last night we should have won. If we keep improving we should learn how to close. Notice I wrote should. That is why every remaining contest is so important in determining if Neu stays or goes. I am not sure I admire the position the AD is in at the end of the season. Is the decision made on what HAS happened or should it be made on what COULD happen? It will be an extremely hard choice.

Not that it matters now, because I'm sure we would have still given up the first down anyway, but on the sack that led to the 3rd and 17 play, we sacked him back at the 42, and they spotted the ball at the 45. Couldn't figure that one out.

Three games left. They are all winnable & we could lose all three. I am still trying to decide if Neu is extended? If we lose all three where is the improvement? Playing close & losing in yr four is that all we want. Cardfan is already talking being good next year but after the past 20 yrs in basketball will it really happen with Neu in charge? We win the next 3 I would extend the contract & anything less I will state my opinion after the season ends.

Or a phantom illegal motion from the female official...again That did appear to be terrible. To the best of my knowledge, if he doesn't have a hand on the ground he should be able to take that look around to the QB or wherever as long as it's not a quick, snap type motion.

I instituted a rule a few years ago how I would not lose sleep or gym time over a sporting event because I usually end up pissed off and tired the next morning. Broke that rule last night.
Undisciplined. I was asleep by 9:45 last night. Watched the highlights this morning on DVR. I was still pissed off, but not tired.
