Cautious optimism on that point. I believe there is a learning curve for staff. Even players get better, and these are now mostly players that have been with the program.

A high scoring affair with a coin toss ending. Whoever has the last possession.

Against Ohio I felt the defensive game plan was pathetic and the offense went too conservative due to the weather. We were not the agressor in that game and we won't win games with that kind of attitude by the coaches. We slipped back to having the mentality of a loser. Hopefully it was a momentary lapse. We can beat any team in the MAC home or away. We can also lose to any team in the MAC.
TOTALLY agree !!!!!!!!

We cannot play NOT TO LOSE. When you have that mentality you lose. Let Plitt be Plitt and scheme the defense with reckless abandon. Not sure what that means but it sound good!! Be aggressive on O and D and let the Kids play. This is no time for the team and staff be wallflowers at the dance.

Lester is no Solich & his assts are no better than ours. Wassink is a passer period. A night game in Michigan in November you run the ball. We need Huntley at full strength & if he is there we win if not it's a a nail biter with the team with the fewest turnovers on top.

Anti Plitt weather. Doesn’t bode well for us.

You can not abandon what makes us good. Yea weather makes it harder and deff takes some plays away but you can not just shut the playbook.. The reason it worked against NIU is they too shut the playbook and then shot themselves in the foot multiple times.. When we have played well its been because we are mixing it up and going at a high tempo. We do not have the horses to be a slow methodical team we need to hit him fast and hard as many times as we can.

If we play vanilla offense vs. Western Michigan we have no chance. This one is going to be high scoring, so we need good Plitt making big plays.

I have a feeling this will be a repeat of the 4 overtime game up at WMU years ago

Totally agree. Wet weather was no excuse for leaving the play book at home against OU and to be successful we have to be aggressive. If we don't, we suck.

I have to disagree if you are saying weather makes no difference in game plan. Weather hurt us badly. Could not expect to run some things with high degree of success.
Besides, OU was more about poor execution. Tackling, blocking, taking care of the ball better in the weather that made it difficult. Special teams. While we might have tweaked the plan a little over what we did, that's always possible with hindsight, there was no way we could have called the same game we played against Toledo in fair weather.
Forget for a moment the painful offensive errors. The time of possession OU managed says our defense let us down, The critical fumbling, poor kicks, and sub par passing accuracy and the rest had to be expected to some degree. Maybe OU played well, I'll give them some credit there. Still this game was not that far out of reach if we had made just a few stops, managed to avoid just a few critical plays. They could almost count on making big plays the way the game went. Made them look like genius play callers.

Of course you have to tweak it some but you can not abandon what you do though.. Im not going to look it up but we did not even try to keep them honest in the first half. When we fell behind in the 2nd we started at least attempting a few passes and plitt made some nice throws.. So the option was there to do some things they just chose not too.

Even if the weather is both cold & wet. We need to be aggressive on offense. I don't see any way WMU runs the option which made us look really bad on defense. (We looked horrible when the QB came to the line & we waited to see what he was going to do) Bellamy benefits a lot from his quickness so a wet field is more to our advantage just like having Huntley is a bigger strength in such weather. Biggest change is the opposing coach is Lester not Solich. Lester will want to pass & the run is option 2.
