If Fleck has coached Ball State we would put on the same level as Rick Majerus!

"I'm saying your insulting the board's inability to predict Fleck's success isn't fair because you also would not have predicted it."
You can't seem to get that my amusement and insults stem from the failure to predict COMBINED WITH the ridicule. Ridicule of his personal quirks AND his coaching abilities.
I (had I bothered to offer any opinion) probably would have shared in the failure to predict, but I did not share in the ridicule, so it IS fair for me to insult the football board.
This is becoming one of the stupidest discussion I have ever been involved in here....which is really saying something, especially when you consider the Kid isn't even involved.
by the way, here is Fleck leading his team onto the field to beat Penn State, AFTER YOU IDIOTS ON THE BSU FOOTBALL BOARD FAILED TO SEE HIS EVENTUAL SUCCESS AND RIDICULED HIM SO MUCH.

I shared the same thoughts on Fleck we all did.. I changed my tune shortly after when he started having top 50 recruiting classes at WMU. I have never changed my thoughts on PJ Fleck the person. He is a clown plain and simple. He has also proven to be a great recruiter, Good coach and nothing Dirty has came out about his programs.

From Fleck's Wikipedia page:
2013 season[edit]
Fleck's first season as Broncos head coach resulted in a final record of 1–11 (1–7 Mid-American Conference (MAC)). It was the program's worst season since 2004, when the Broncos went 1–10 (0–7 MAC). Injuries, youth and inexperience, discipline, and execution led to poor play.[20] Low-lights included a home loss to Nicholls State, a blowout loss to Iowa, and a homecoming loss to Buffalo. The team improved their play late in the season, with a road win against UMass, and close home losses to in-state rivals Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan.[21]
Despite the on-field difficulties in 2013, Fleck and his staff succeeded off the field by signing a highly ranked recruiting class. Observers noted that it was possibly the best recruiting class in WMU history, and the best in the MAC since 2000.[22][23] Rivals.com had the WMU class ranked highest among "mid-major" programs for 2014, with 247Sports.com ranking the class 36th-best nationally for 2015
Let me assure you....If a new BSU basketball coach had a similar season, results and recruiting combined, not only would I not be criticizing him, I would be offering to wash his car, mow his yard, take out his trash and walk his dog, in hopes of keeping him around as long as possible.

This is becoming one of the stupidest discussion I have ever been involved in here....which is really saying something, especially when you consider the Kid isn't even involved.
Let's say that I make the comment "Lots of people guessed wrong on their powerball tickets. They are stupid for their inability to predict the correct numbers." Now let's say someone responds to me "hey that's not fair, it's not like you could predict the right numbers either." I would have said said, "my bad, what I meant was that they shouldn't have bought tickets in the first place, because not being able to predict the correct numbers COMBINED WITH their spending the money on the tickets, makes them stupid."
Can't you see how "they are stupid for not predicting the numbers" and "they shouldn't have bought the tickets in the first place" are distinct arguments?
Analogously "they're stupid because they couldn't predict Fleck's success" is different than "they should not have ridiculed his coaching because they could not have predicted his success." If you meant the latter all along I don't know why you didn't just say that, unless the fear of any perceived error is so overwhelming that you'd rather have done what you did.
This conversation has been so stupid because you've responded to my pretty simple comment by attacking me personally or using straw men. I've never said it's not fair to insult the football board. It is a perfectly fair insult to the board to say they were wrong on Fleck. It's just not a fair insult to imply that their wrongness was based on a lack of sagacity, unless you back that up by showing how a shrewd person would have predicted correctly. In fact, I looked at your history with Fleck comments and you made similar comments on December 12, 2015 and October 26, 2016. However in both of those comments your criticism was not that BSU fans were stupid for not predicting Fleck, they were limited to that it would be fun to read the old posts where everyone was so wrong. Those comments were fair.
I think now that you've changed your position we are on the same page. If you disagree I'm game to keep going. I'm still willing to go the extra mile to help you grasp this. But I should warn you that further 00-like tactics will wear my patience with you.

This is not the football board. Since you apparently have just joined the board today, allow me to advise you that threads around here often stray from the main theme of the forum.

Technical question: how do you go about searching comment history for keywords?
Here is my quote in question: "It would be really amusing to find the old threads from when Fleck was new at Western. A lot of ridicule and disdain. But then, BSU football fans have never been the most sagacious group."
Clearly the "sagacious' part is directed at the ridicule and disdain. NOT the not predicting part.
But now that you mention it, I might go so far as to say a shrewd and sagacious person, who had an interest in MAC football, could have, and maybe even should have, predicted the success of Fleck, based on his recruiting....as those results started becoming apparent. Rarely will you ever find a better example of my two maxims, "Recruiters recruit" and "recruiting has consequences". We might safely assume that Fleck never took an extended break in California during recruiting season.
