Simple point is that Mallers is shooting 56% behind the arc....doesn’t that qualify as great shooting in any league??!!

We did what we should have done against a crummy team. Kicked them early and often and never let them off the mat. It was great to see us shoot lights out from three. Mallers was unconscious and had he played a full game would have easily set a new record. Everyone got to play which was good. I agree that Acree, Thomas and Kroft have a long way to go. I think your conference rotation will be our regular starters plus Coleman, Hazen, Bumb and a sprinkling of Kroft to rest others. Let’s hope this game gets us off the schnide on our shooting woes.

I Was surprised when you posted this percentage, so I went back to the individual box scores. I must say, I have to cry uncle on this one. Further, I need to apologize for being so hard on him. Kyle's only bad three point shooting game was Evansville (1-6). The rest have been 40% or better (a couple were a lot better). I think I've had the Kyle of seasons gone by stuck in my head. Hopefully this continues. The rest of his game is very limited, so he has to give us at least 3-4 threes at a high percentage every game to contribute.

Yes, BS, I heard although I’m uncertain true that Kyle took lots of shots this Summer, if so, it appears to me that he has really found his rhythm and stroke! Even in the Evansville game I thought he shot with confidence unlike a year ago!
I also agree that Mallers is not a slasher but if shooting confidently can be tremendously helpful along with good free throw shooting and more than adequate defense.
With El Amin and Mallers outside along with Teague inside this team just may click?!
Let’s all hope so

I also think so far we have been able to use Mallers a bit differently. I think last year it seemed like we had buried down on the box a lot more.. Now he seems to be out on the perimeter more

Now he seems to be out on the perimeter more He may have been in the post a tad more last year, but I'm not sure about what you're saying. He has always shot a lot of threes. Kyle's M-O has always been to stand flat-footed around the perimeter. He's not alone, though, as that is essentially Whitford's "offense".

You could be right..I just remember him being down in the post more.. I thought I remembered us even having arguments about how he was being used.

Thomas' steal and tomahawk dunk while fighting off a defender acting as a garment was quite impressive. The technical foul after seemed like a really silly call. Naw he got in the guys face, it was the right call. In fact if I were Whitford I would have taken him out after the free throw and let him think about it for a couple of minutes. I agree Sweep.

You forgot the “?” but, it was against the worst team in college basketball who played worse than that. I wouldn’t extrapolate any future performance based on this obvious “confidence builder” game.
