I must say there is consistency on the board...the same hardliners wanting Whit to be fired want Neu to be gone!
I’m kind of neutral although I said if he doesn’t win 5 he should be gone! Maybe he beats Miami??

Maybe he beats Miami?? Kid-where has supporting Neu, Whit and all the mediocre jokers in between taken us? NCAA, hell, NIT in basketball? Not in 20 years. MAC West in football? Not in 20 plus years. I am so freaking tired of mediocrity and excuses. It’s beyond frustrating. I understand supporting the teams and student athletes but it’s not fair to them to squander their one shot at D-1 sports by giving them crap coaching. We are doing them a disservice, not to mention the sponsors and donors who pour their financial support into these programs. It’s maddening, actually. As a 3 decade supporter of this fine institution, it’s time to say enough and demand change.

All the demanding in the world won't help much if the change required also requires money we don't have.
This was predictable when these threads started months ago.

Since that Magical Year of 2008, where we were the Darlings of the Football Mid-Majors, Ball State has played 482 collegiate football and basketball games (thru Tuesday)
Our beloved school has 209 combined victories during that span. 209/482 = 43%
It really doesn’t matter WHO is coaching if satisfaction is 43%.
To maintain this elite performance, our football coach needs to achieve 5 wins/season and our basketball coach must strive for 13 wins.
“Almost winning begins to feel like winning”

It’s about championships. If we had backed our way into a trip to Detroit and won a flukey game like Buffalo did to us I would not be arguing to fire Neu. I dont think I would be his biggest fan based on the performances that got us the championship, but as long as you’re delivering championships I will not want you fired. I’ve never seen a coach with a historically mediocre record who wins championships. But I have seen many coaches with historically strong records who cant win championships.

And we have neither historically mediocre coaching records winning championships OR historically strong coaching records. 🤬

Maybe he beats Miami?? I like Neu a lot and want him to succeed, but please do tell me anywhere else (college athletics or the business world) where they would put up with this level of failure. He's going to be here mostly because the university doesn't have cash to buy out his contract and he seems to have a very good locker room culture. I hope he is able to make the most of it and clean up the fundamental and discipline woes. My biggest worry is that he won't have the roster moving forward to get any better - seems like this year--possibly next--was/ will be his peak year.

Most on this site in the past said 5-6 wins would be fine IN ADDITION TO BEING COMPETITIVE . Neu is on the edge of delivering exactly that. Many got greedy after some early success and suddenly 5 wins would not be enough. IMHO ya gotta stick with the guy all things considered. In the opinion of most I have read, the staff is recruiting better athletes but we need a change on the defensive side of the ball. I hope our new AD is savvy enough to tell Neu friendships are out the window when discussing staff changes...nothing personal, it is business. Do you really want to start from square one AGAIN? I for one do not. If I am wrong so be it, we will find out soon, but I just don't want to start over and endure all the transfers, angst, and hiring another ''bargain coach''. Let's give the guy a chance hope Neu takes advantage of it.

If BSU loses 5 straight including a 3-5 MAC record and extends Neu it just proves even with a new AD, the BSU administration is apathetic.

Don't follow the situation that closely, but it seems to me that a critical factor is whether or not Neu is using his background to do some exceptionally good QB recruiting.
