Martin said in press conference that yes Gabbert could have played in the 2nd half but they chose not to. I am happy for the win! That’s being negative. You have to believe Miami tried their hardest.

I love beating Miami any way we do it. As far as beating Miami, I don’t care if we would do it by Miami’s busses not showing up. Any win over Miami is good, no matter what. Should I feel bad because I also took a bit of enjoyment from the in-game announcement recognizing Kia Holder as the athlete of the week for her part the volleyball team's success, including beating No. 1 seed Miami in the MAC tournament? I guess I just love a good thumb nosing moment.

It’s really not that complicated. Facts are facts, but how you react to them is what determines negativity vs positivity. 5-7 means more losses than wins. Disappointment is understandable. However, some on this board will ALWAYS look at the facts and find the negative, even after wins. If that’s how most of you want to live your lives that’s fine, but you don’t have to be defensive about it. Embrace your negativity and own it.

I think Neu is certainly loyal to a fault, but I don't think he's totally blinded by that loyalty.
I think he recognized Joey wasn't up to the task when he took over play calling.
Now for Elson, here's the solution: You fire the special teams coach (so you still have to get Neu to fire someone), then you go to Elson and say, "Dave, I need you to fix our special teams."
Then if you make the right hire for DC, you've fixed the part of the team that's on the field for 50-70 plays a game (hopefully less if they get better) while the part that's on the field for 20 or less plays a game at least isn't likely to get worse.

In 2008 I dont really remember anyone being negative after each game. Or at least it was nitpicky things with the overall tenor of satisfaction. I am a realist. These results are unacceptable to me.

Martin said in press conference that yes Gabbert could have played in the 2nd half but they chose not to. I am happy for the win! Also, Miami got two touchdowns on blocked punts. So in that respect the D played a pretty good game. They unfortunately folded big time against Central. Although Central is proving to be a good offensive team. Another point, how many here said a 5 win season was the best we could possibly expect and would agree that it showed positive direction. What we all hate is how we got to 5 after the 3 straight MAC wins. A much more empty feeling. But still loving my “Beat Miami Today” martinis! Wait a minute, the ladies also kicked #1 seed Miami’s butt in volleyball! Bar tender, another martini please! 🍸

Neu has tied the beloved Brady Hoke with 4 losing seasons and 15 wins in those seasons.
You know I don’t like to diss on Brady, so I’ll point out that 14 of his 15 wins were in the MAC.
Now, if we can get a good asst. hire and find an NFL caliber QB, we’re all set for Football Nirvana

Anyone know how many starters return? Not sure. Let’s hope we don’t lose any. Today may have helped, but who knows.

Also, Miami got two touchdowns on blocked punts. So in that respect the D played a pretty good game. The glass half full defensive thinkers: Miami got 10 points off our special teams. The glass half empty defensive thinkers: Our crappy special teams saved the defense from getting chunked up on 2 TD drives.

How is the search going for a place kicker and punter. Those two guys can easily win at least 4 games a year if not more. We need a couple of good legs.

I'm surprised we didn't try the kid Friday or before sometime since we could have done so for four games, but I heard, probably even before the start of the season, that the staff was really high on the redhirt kid from Noblesville.
