Nice to be the “Poster Boy” on an article about the fortunes of being fired.

The bigger issue that article helps bring to light is the amount of money these programs have at their disposal. Big Ten TV revenues are now $54mm per year. Yes, you read that right. MAC TV revenues are, um, well, on the negative side once you figure in cost of doing business. That's why I keep beating the drum that mid majors, especially the MAC, can't continue this charade.

I see a couple D2 schools are dropping football because if budgets. I thinks that’s going to become more prevalent among schools that just do not have the revenue streams the upper crust has. Eventually we’ll see MAC level schools consider dropping football.

Eventually we’ll see MAC level schools consider dropping football. Ralph Wiggum as George Wash... er, Commish Steinbrecher

Miami wants to be the Ivy League of the MidWest, let’s all follow this model.

Miami losses to Ohio State 76-5, than wins the MAC. No MAC team will ever win a football national championship, probably never make Top Ten. We need to drop down to FCS, at minimum. Their are times when FCS schools make Top 25. FCS schools also play FBS schools, Indiana State has played Indiana and Purdue and others. FCS schools also have all their games are broadcast on the ESPN channels. Let’s give up the joke of being FBS. WE DON’t EVEN WIN THE SMALL BOWL GAMES ANY MORE and we have never won a bowl game.

More than likely the choice not to participate at the FBS level will change in the next few years. Give the last round of realignment and the great 4 team playoff time to settle in and someone to not make enough money and there’ll be some changes. I wouldn’t be surprised if the new FBS would streamline to four divisions/conferences to reinforce the playoff format and the teams/conferences that aren’t the big draws will be on the outside of it all.
