I used to work at FAU long ago. The school is a commuter campus, little tradition if any. Amazing what good recruiting, coaching and overall commitment can do for a university. Hopefully someday BSU will grow up to be like FAU on the football field. Happy holidays to all of you!

As of 2017 they spend about $7MM a year more than Ball State and receive about $5MM more annually from student fees and government/institutional support. I don't know that these numbers really matter, just always find college spending by mid-majors interesting.

Revenue indicates local support greater, may show up for games, Florida pretty hot for football and lots of players on roster from in state.

While I'm as frustrated as any about our seeming "being content to field a team" and not pursue athletic excellence, the same could be said about the "look" of BSU a generation or so ago. I realize many on this board no longer reside in Muncie, but our alma mater is concentrating (for now) on continuing to grow and develop its academic programs and campus. That's the way it's supposed to go, folks. Or we could go all-in for an athletic factory that continues to get little ROI from East Central Indiana. "All" those winning Saturdays in the 80s and 90s weren't enough to keep thousands in Muncie and buying tickets when their jobs dried up.

"All" those winning Saturdays in the 80s and 90s weren't enough to keep thousands in Muncie and buying tickets when their jobs dried up. Which is why some on this board have been advocating for the university to give up the facade of looking like a division 1 football program. Drop it down or drop it all together. That hurts to say but sometimes the truth hurts.
