I think if we're putting a team of posters together we better be running the ol' picket fence. When the General gets fouled as he dribbles out the clock, I'm sure he'll utilize the scoop shot on the free throws. Don’t get caught watchin’ the paint dry!

Free throws? Uh, well. I'm afraid that was one of my weaknesses. In fact, pretty much anything involving shooting at the basket or defending the basket was a weakness. But then stealing the ball or dribbling....man, I'm telling you!

Confidence is fine, but I have never liked a cheerleader and press agent approach.

If we play well and lose he can get over it pretty quick. There you have it. He’d almost rather play well and lose then play poorly and win.

Hate playing down to the opposition. Should be much more harsh with players after that poorly played win. Play to your potential every game, be very clear how that was not the case.
Most games are imperfect, a mixed bag. No sense going ballistic all the time like Bob Knight maybe. You can't really expect perfection, but players have to aspire to it and be aware when they don't accomplish something close.
Most of all they have to be competitive every time, even if the talent isn't there or the shots just don't fall or the opponent just can't miss.

I’d rather just win.

Hard to count on a lot of poorly played wins... .

It’s the mindset, man. He gets over “good” losses easier than “bad” wins. I don’t want my head coach easily getting over any loss. It comes off as appearing to not be driven to win as far as I’m concerned. It’s as if he doesn’t really hate losing. And look at his record....

I'd say in most of our losses we don't play well, but with Whit "playing the right way" probably equates to "playing well." And according to him we've "played the right way" more than we haven't so ... he's probably recovering pretty well from most of our losses.

To me, if you play well, lose, you have to get over the losing part and on to the next game. Want your team to keep playing well focus on that good part and how to do it again next game.
If you get over the bad win easily you're asking to lose again, ignoring the cause of bad losses.
Two ways to look at that wanting to win thing. Both important. Hate losing but focus on the why, and playing well next time not just wanting to win. That is the easy part, wanting.
The hard thing is not will to win it's will to prepare to win.
