Source: Toledo is hiring Tampa Plant head coach Robert Weiner to be the Rockets’ QB coach. He’s a fixture in Florida having coached Aaron Murray, Robert Marve and Philip Ely. Toledo HC Jason Candle will take over the OC job and remain the play caller.

Really will be interesting to see if Candle can keep this clean and in control. You gotta pick the right kids and not the knuckleheads. Last player we had from plant was Patterson. Really talented but he was a pain in the ass with problems that followed him the rest of his life

Well they are not done Jesus if we had the backing they do
SOURCE: Toledo is hiring Craig Kuligowski. He will coach OLB’s and will be Co-Defensive Coordinator. Kuligowski spent 2018 at Alabama as Associate Head Coach. He was at Miami before that.

Really good coach.. So Toledo adds a Florida legend with ties to everyschool in south florida to coach QB's and then adds a proven well respected vet to coach their damn LB's.. Meanwhile in Muncie

We’re kind of a DIY fixer-upper, keep it in the family program. Win 5-6 games a year on shoestrings and we’re golden.
Toledo meanwhile is pissed at the season they had last year, like getting absolutely clowned by us, and they’ve gone out and done something about it.

Toledo meanwhile is pissed at the season they had last year, like getting absolutely clowned by us, and they’ve gone out and done something about it. You got me on explaining this, I reject the pissed off motive. OK, it's remotely possible they really care. But I don't see how they sell it to the President and BOT.
Sure they "want to win" but I guess I'd favor the head in the sand, we've got enough money right now, why worry theory. Both are stupid in their own way.
Toledo and maybe 3 or 4 MAC teams have enough budget to not just hire a HC relatively high paid for the MAC, but the guy takes the job he is promised support for staff. You can bet that Toledo and the other "powers" are at the least a little bit better funded in every area compared to us, but looking at these hires they will have a significant edge in funding on coaches. That extra funding has to add up in W's, that is where we agree. And. Gee, who would think you need good coaches?
No MAC school really comes close to breaking even, not close enough to think about breaking even. NIU may in their dreams thinks it is a positive NPV investment that will get them into the B12, I don't think the others dream of B10 FB in their future.
Surely the administration at those 4 MAC schools occasionally think about the long term? Maybe not, maybe just another example of incompetence. God knows we have seen short term thinking in our Athletic programs. Sure looks like they have decided that they can afford to hang with football even if the other MAC schools are strapped and sooner or later have to give up, scale down. Or, at least that they can hold out for a few more years and will then have more options when the apocalypse comes?
