Many of you wanted a change and your wish has been granted. When Neu started to call the plays I thought this move was just a matter of time. The biggest part of an OC's job is to call them plays, Lynch had that taken from his hands. I wish Joey the best. He has been a great Cardinal both on the sidelines and between them. I look for Neu to keep his fingers in the play calling pie and I suspect it will not be adverse to putting some air under the ball. I think it may have been time for a change and Lynch thought so too. We can have a balanced attack offensively and hurt opponents through the air or on the ground. This move is not something to fear but one to grab and run (or throw) with.

I would certainly think that an OC who doesn't call the plays isn't going to get another OC job, so you'd have to think his new boss is under the impression that he did call the plays last year. However, for me, the stigma of having the play calling removed from his duties 2 years ago hangs around and leads me to question the validity of any statements that those duties were fully returned to him this past season. I suspect Neu maintained a pretty significant influence in the area. But, I think it's also undeniable that the change in QB helped - whoever was calling the plays - and that people do learn so it's possible that with a good offseason of tutoring and study Joey improved. Whatever the case, wish him the best.

Joey was back calling plays this year and to be to quite honest other than a few head scratchers here and there he did a great job this year. Yes many of us were calling for something different in previous years but I think most would say they were pretty happy with how the offense ran this year. Some have already pointed out that the offense and play calling changed when Riley left. There were things he could not or was not trusted to do

I stand corrected. It just goes to show you that I refused to let these athletic teams ruin my life one week at a time. As a result I do not give it the attention I once did. I will tell you I never the saw the potential in Neal after his second year. I saw him plateau and never get better.

It was the d and special teams. We quite frankly were able to be more multiple and vertical with Plitt at QB.

There were things he could not or was not trusted to do Yes, it's easy as fans to call out the coach for calls, or even for execution, but this looks like the performance the forum complained loudly about may be something out of coaches control and no way for us to know the negative of what was NOT in Riley's playbook, and probably for good reason.
Riley and Plitt were, it is clear now, not wired the same way psychologically and Riley's obvious greater talents were accompanied by weaknesses the coaches knew all too well, not just the ones we saw.

We bitched some about playcalls and decisions but that happens everywhere with every staff. All in all not much we can really complain about offensivly.. I mean we can if want to.. TE usage, Yo heinz usage. 4th down execution.. See there is always something but if look at it as a whole we were pretty darn good.. Well except Plitt in the rain and that whole Ohio game play plan.. I just cant help myself lol

Yep. Spent the weekend with a good friend that is a Miami grad, supporter, fan and fan board member and he said that several of those fan board people want Martin fired because "he just hasn't done enough" in the time that he's been there. You're right though, that OU game is one that will stick in our crawl for awhile in how passive and one dimensional we were. I liked someone's comment about attack, attack, attack and that sure didn't happen in that game. I agree with not changing the playbook too much, but the play calling would likely be different. EXTREMELY happy for Coach Lynch and wish him well, but I think it can really be a good thing for BSU, also.

No, No, No.....
Well, if so, you can’t say Neu is able to think outside the box.
