While being interviewed by Dan Patrick today, Antonio Gates said Theron Smith was one of best bball players he went up against.

That’s awesome. If only Tee hadn’t hurt his knee.

He had one monster year - should have walked away with MAC POTY easily - instead Keith McCleod got it.
He also had a solid freshman year.
So sad how things ended up. He could have been the best player in BSU history and a solid NBA player.

In terms of talent one our best ever. Very unfortunate injury.

Probably would have finished second on all-time lists for scoring and rebounding. Still easily in top 10 for both.

I didn't follow BSU a whole lot until I got out of college so T has always been my favorite player. Man, he was so good!

I remember when we had a midnight madness.. T came out and won the three point contest. We had some good shooters on that team as well

He could have been the best player in BSU history and a solid NBA player. As good as T was, Bonzi was still a cut above...injury or no injury. Bonzi played 12 years in the NBA with an overall 12.1 ppg scoring average. It's a bit of a shame he didn't play on more prominent teams.

Loved watching Tee play so smooth. Only issue was his last year when he had to medically red shirt and ended up leaving after a full year of rehabbing his knee while most believed that he was returning.

If the same thing injury wise happened today he would have probably been a grad student at a P5 school the next year.

He left against the advice of the training staff. His knee wasn’t ready. Nor was his game at that point. Buckley even assembled a panel of NBA advisors and experts for him. They all highly advised him to go back to school and get more play under his belt. He, of course, listened to an agent who didn't have his best interests at heart. One more year at BSU would have done him (and our program) a whole lot of good.

That’s awesome. If only Tee hadn’t hurt his knee. That injury seemed to be the negative turning point for both Buckley and BSU basketball as a whole.

I'll try to be fair to him and say that this was a very hard place to be HC at that time. He had the "failure to communicate" problem with administration on top of that.
Hey what could go wrong? Anyone we would go get to replace him had to be better, right?
