Just to keep the conversation flowing - and because I am at home and board to tears ... I will just throw some names out there en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Edsall - he is available. Did a great job building UConn (Fiesta Bowl appearance) and did okay at Maryland

I have no problem with Pelini - our players need a little bit of what he's got. I do understand the concern though. Pelini is on the path to redemption. The rough edges don't bother me, he's evolving and getting used to the bit and bridle, but he will never be the county fair ride pony.
IMO, 3-4 years and we win the MAC with him. He could bring in an excellent OC and staff.
If Mike Leach can do it, Pelini should have nothing to worry about.

From the Richmond, Va. newspaper If Ball State reached out to Richmond football coach Danny Rocco, that would be no shock. Mark Sandy, Ball State’s athletics director, has familiarity with Rocco and the environment in which he has succeeded. Sandy was an associate AD at Richmond from 2000 to 2005 and still has many contacts in town. Pete Lembo, Ball State’s coach the past five seasons, left for Maryland on Dec. 22 to be the Terps’ associate head coach and special teams coordinator. How do we plan to get Rocco if he'as already at $ 400,000 annually ??

I am twisting myself in knots over Danny Rocco. Sitting here watching the NDSU-Richmond game from the Semis of the FCS Playoff. Obviously Richmond lost and were not even close to winning, but you get a feel for a team. Not to mention it is impossible to win in the Fargodome. The defense, fast and tough - the week before they shut down Illinois State and kept All-American RB Marshaun Copprich to just 30 yards and Tre Roberson also only had 30 yards. They basically play a 3-4 with a stand up Rush end that will line up on or close to the line. On 3rd or in distance situations, they will drop the Rush and add an extra DB. Their secondary is big, physical, fast and get at you. Their Dline is tough. Their linebackers flow well and are big, physical and fast. There is nothing to dislike about their defensive approach. Rocco is a defensive guy and it shows in the way the defense plays. The DC - Bob Trott, has been at it for a while, has 6 years under his belt at Richmond. Has experience in the NFL and has been a DC at Arkansas, Clemson, Duke, Baylor & UL-Monroe before coming to Richmond.
Offensively, they are more pro-style but are also multiple. You will see Single back and I-formation from under center, shotgun looks, mix in some read option. They actually spend more time in a pro-set or single back formation than in the shotgun. They run the ball effectively and commit to it, but their passing attack is also stout. RB had 1500+ yards, QB threw for 3,500+, 6 receivers with double figure receptions. His OC is new with him (since 2014) but has extensive experience as a QB coach in FBS including most recently at Penn State along with a stint at Miami (OH) and Temple.

Pelini just doesn't interest me. Losing season at Youngstown. Extreme hot head. Horrible with people. No thanks Then lets go with this guy. He's very sensitive and we'll all feel good about the athletic program....

Has anyone heard any rumors at all? Normally, we have some names that either show interest in us or vice versa. I suppose the timing with Christmas and then New Years hasn't helped.

I assume that are keeping any interest close to the vest. This will probably have a major impact on some program and they maybe are trying to keep the rumor mill contained as long as possible. i thought I read he won't have the process defined unti Wednesday (that may have been the latest date, not sure). Still not sure if there is a committee or not.
