Want to give this guy a bit of credit. His escape attempt was not ultimately successful, but did involve some creativity.
Authorities said Buckland had kicked a hole in a bedroom wall and and climbed through to the residence next door. Once there, he kicked a hole in another wall in an apparent bid to enter a third home. He was then observed throwing items out of a second-floor window he had broken. He told officers he had a gun and would kill them and himself if they “did not put their guns down,” according to a police report. He eventually agreed to come out and surrender “after being promised a cigarette and a conversation with his wife before going to (the Delaware County jail).”
Buckland complained of neck and ankle pain, and was examined at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital before being delivered to
jail
Having worked for a time in residential construction, I've often wondered why criminals don't more often take advantage of the ease of breaking through walls. I could easily, quickly and quietly go right through the outside wall of many of the vinyl-sided houses being built today using only a utility blade.
There are details in the story that allow you to picture the experience of the neighbors who, after noting the arrival of the cops at their building, suddenly had this guy appear through the wall of their apartment.
Then as you have probably anticipated: The Bluffton man was charged with robbery resulting in bodily injury, a Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison, in Wells Circuit Court on April 22
Some people tell me we have an overincarceration problem, but real life tells me we are failing to keep innocent law-abiding people safe from known, dangerous, convicted scumbags.
Police: Suspect kicks hole in wall, flees into neighbor's home in escape bid

Indy has it's own kooks. This might be the strangest story I've ever seen: Bo? Or Luke Duke?

"The passenger told police the driver is a one-legged man, and he left his prosthetic leg behind"

fireworks mishap The vehicle was eastbound on Delaware County Road 500-S, at County Road 800-W, when one of the youths apparently ignited a “large firework” and tried to throw it out the truck’s window.
However, it detonated inside the truck, tearing off that young man’s hand and causing what was believed to be a head injury for one of the vehicle’s other occupants.
The force of the blast also blew out one of the truck’s windows.

Man, I just have to consider myself lucky that nothing like that happened to me, with all the stupid shit I did when I was a teen. Although, the largest explosive I ever lit inside a moving car was a firecracker...

Oops, hey man I dropped that thing over on your side of the truck.
You better pick it up, roll down the window, and throw it out.
Better hurry.
No, no. Not my side...

Shame this wasn't caught on video. World wide viral exposure for Delaware County would have been assured.

Woman charged with obstruction of justice, biting officerMUNCIE, Ind. – A Colorado woman is accused of, among other things, biting one police officer and offering sex to another to avoid being arrested.I guess that's her version of the old "carrot and stick" tactic. According to police reports, Vega was arrested last Sunday afternoon after city police received a report of a fight in a vehicle at Hackley and Jackson streets.
Authorities allege Vega had battered her mother. She was uncooperative with police – who referred to her “combativeness and level of intoxication” – and allegedly offered “sexual favors in exchange for her release.”
Indiana court records reflect no prior charges against Vega.
But I suspect Colorado records may contain one or two relevant things.

Police: Facebook video leads to arrest in gunfire probe
Being a Muncie detective would be easy in the sense that perps tend to put up huge blazing signs pointing to their guilt, but difficult in the sense that you have to spend your work hours dealing with these morons.
A witness said Haskins had sent her a text message about his plans to “shoot up” the Willard Street home after a dispute with a resident there.
In an affidavit, investigators said they also reviewed a comment, made on Haskins’ Facebook account the night of the gunfire, in which he reportedly referred to plans to “go 40 shots.” The officers also viewed Facebook Live videos, one of which reportedly showed Haskins, with “what appeared to be an assault rifle of some kind,” making a comment about his ability to “get (his antagonists) right now.”
Haskins appears to be standing outside, in darkness, in the video, the affidavit said.
In a video made after 90 minutes after the gunfire, he reportedly suggests police are “lookin’” after he “got the hood hot.”
Apparently he was arrested before he could put up any videos of his crime on either YouTube or Instagram.
and then of course:
The Muncie man has been convicted of battery resulting in bodily injury, carrying a handgun without a license (twice), criminal recklessness, disorderly conduct, intimidation (twice), possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana.
And, remember, we have an overincarceration problem in this country.

Muncie man held in brother's stabbing
Miller left the scene but returned, and repeatedly told officers he hadn’t meant to stab his brother. He also had stabbed himself in the forearm “to make it even,” according to an affidavit
Well, since it's EVEN now, I guess the charges will be dropped, right?
But this may be the worst part: In an interview at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where both brothers were treated for their wounds, Miller said he had been drinking vodka and RC Cola on Tuesday night.
RC Cola and Vodka? Nasty.
Guess what:
Miller has been convicted of misdemeanor counts of battery (three times) and theft

A clear case of no criminal intent. "I was showing my brother the knife, and the gas generated by RC and the dizziness caused by the the accidental mix of vodka (who would do that with intent?) these forces caused me to to belch uncontrollably and stumble forward, stab my bro."

When my son was 14, I caught him and friends drinking Coke & Vodka in our basement. I told them, "I pissed that you chose to come to my house to drink underage, but I'm going let the fact that you chose to mix Coke & Vodka to be part of your punishment."

I’m wondering if we should put up Calhoun to be the official “code talker” for the Muncie Police Department to help decipher social media during criminal investigations?
