Just hire Bothof seems like he know what is going on. I wonder if that was Mearns ploy in naming Bothof interim. But Bothof just started retirement. Would he want to go back into it? How attractive is our job, actually?

The AD at BSU is probably the best job he's ever had. It certainly has a better perspective than NKU.

Hopefully we can do better than dragging a dead horse out of retirement.
The changing landscape of mid major D1 athletics is going to require a fresher set of eyes.

It looks like Goetz may indeed get her chance at Iowa; Footballscoop reports: "Iowa athletics director Gary Barta is expected to announce his retirement, the school announced Friday. Barta, 59, has run Iowa's athletics department since 2006". Further reported: "Deputy AD Beth Goetz is widely expected to be his replacement; Goetz joined the department last year after four years as Ball State's AD. The school says an interim AD will be announced next week". If it comes to pass, good for her. Full story here: footballscoop.com/news/iowa-ad-gary-barta-to-retire

Well deserved. Two career blemishes: FIVE year Neu extension in ‘21 TWO year Whitford extension in ‘21 Barf. She was horrible for BSU. Total farce. Nothing but a Mearns budget slasher and equity pusher.

Well deserved. Two career blemishes: FIVE year Neu extension in ‘21 TWO year Whitford extension in ‘21 She was horrible for BSU. Total farce. Nothing but a Mearns budget slasher and equity pusher. Neither is true. Budget cuts were imposed from above and despite that, she accomplished a lot, handled turnover that came, in the process cleared some dead wood, reorganized, made good hires. We'd had had little direction, willingness to make change, energy and business skill in that office. In a relatively short tenure she brought that, built a good team, left the Department much better than when she arrived.

I’m hearing Mitchell is having to clean up a lot of messes and plug a lot of holes.

I’m hearing Mitchell is having to clean up a lot of messes and plug a lot of holes. In our Department, no surprise. Messes are regular part of the job. Change in personal style and any different priorities or new ideas produce "holes." I have no problem so far with him.
