I suspect we will see the same at Worthern Neu and Maloney obviously embrace DC. I wonder if this is confirmation that Mitchell agrees? Hopefully we can finally shed ourselves of the ill-conceived robo and robo ll logos for good.

It was a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that Louisville did not like us poaching their "Marching Cardinal" (similarly, Iowa State poached it as well). Robo Charlie solved two things at the time - 1)it gave a unique cardinal image suitable for all uniforms; 2)it gave a suitable helmet logo to replace BSU's copyright infringement of the St. Louis Cardinals helmet logo. At least it is a very clean and recognizable logo, and easily identifiable with BSU. Did Dancing Charlie do the same? Maybe, but what in the hell is he actually doing? Running? Dancing? Seizure?

We should call it Karate Charlie. Makes him sound more badass.

"Bad Idea" I agree. One positive though is that we will be able to take advantage of opponents as they laugh their asses off and joke about Dancin Charlie. Football is violent being cute is not. Letterman had it right when he said that the Cardinal was a real bad ass Robin sized bird.

Perhaps more than anything the robo cardinal logo gave the university a trademarked athletics logo they could draw royalties from. Dancing Charlie was not trademarked at the time and BSU got nothing when people put it on merchandise they sold. They had no control of what it was put on as well. I honestly don't remember that Marching Cardinal in anything but CBX Book Store advertising.

As someone who spends way to much time on social media the twitterverse loves Dancing Charlie as it is often mentioned as one of the great mascots being used in College football right now.

Did Dancing Charlie do the same? Maybe, but what in the hell is he actually doing? Running? Dancing? Seizure? I always thought the artist's intent with "Dancing Charlie" was pretty clearly that of a bird about ready to break into a run. But, hey, if folks want to say he's dancing, so be it.

I always thought he looked like the Heisman Charlie.

Loved the contemporary cardinal in 1990 but the dancing cardinal has so much energy. Hope we evolve to it.
(I also hope BSU properly cuts the new logo into the field. The new turf square looks bad - has old Philadelphia veteran’s stadium blowout knee look).

The dancing cardinal reminds me of some cartoon character. I like cardinal logo that we have had since we got rid of the Arizona Cardinal
