Well We handily won but I cant say we would have beaten any MAC based on our play this evening. Its also pretty hard to judge anything from this game. As expected Bashir and Pearson are the "leaders" Pearson was Pearson. Bashir deff shot more but once again missed A half dozen bunnies. Front line depth and defense will beca problen
Hendrix is not better but played more. Accomplished nothing Doughty looked like a freshman was lost a lot. He did do damage last 10 minutes of game against hulmans deep bench.
Jaylin Anderson and Davion Bailey both started both did some good things They can be OK
Joey Brown loojs like a basketball player hit a three but very freshman like
Mason Jones best of the Newcomers Can Shoot goes to rim. Needs confidence passed on about 6 threes he should have shot
Micha Bell Got in and did somethings. Wild and wreckless but quick.. Ugly set shot three but he made it. Had a break away dunk kinda the surprise of the night
Watts DNP
Quincy adams mop up time did nothing
Middleton played nothing memorable
The euro looked really stiff but had a nice shot he missed them but good form rotation etc

Yeah but, at Ball State it takes several years to build a team.
The key takeaway from RMC........"we handily won".

I predict a long season ahead. Agree. To do anything we need freshmen to develop, break out by end of the season. That's possible. We certainly have enough of them... Too much uncertainty and too many new pieces to expect a lot unless that happens.

Now that Lewis has shed those weak-minded Whitford players that were holding him back last year, and has his own recruits who are tough, the wins will be rolling in. I guess you've forgotten that our losses last year were primarily due to a lack of toughness on the roster.

I'd love to see some stats. None to be found. One I know is that Rose hit 13 3-pointers. That's 39 of their 52 points. We only allowed 13 points inside the the 3 point line, including free throws.
It felt like we took way too many 3-pointers. The whole game was sloppy and unpleasant to watch.
Individually, my take is I think Jones and Doughty showed a lot of potential. Bailey had good moments. Bell looked very quick and explosive in limited playing time. Anderson in my opinion is going to be the team leader. Jihad does not appear to have improved and still has trouble finishing around the rim even when not defended. Pearson will be solid. I'm holding out hope that Hendricks might actually contribute something to account for his 50 years of scholarship but did not look significantly improved.

I predict a long season ahead. Our non-conference schedule is incredibly weak and the entire MAC (other than Akron) has been raided by the transfer portal for most of its talent. It may not take much to have a winning season.

None of this sounds the least bit encouraging You want encouraging?! We're not ready for encouraging.
Weird year with 8 or 9 freshmen. Seeing them play hard and improve may be the best we can expect.

I thought the defensive effort was excellent. We'll certainly need that as I'm not sure where we're going to be offensively. Scary, though, that three-point shooting by our opponents has always hurt us and we give up 13 of them in the exhibition.

Sounds like Whitford's depth and role players are now our "stars".

None of this sounds the least bit encouraging It could be worse. Louisville Cards got beat by D-II Kentucky Wesleyan earlier this week. Another long season for their fans.
