This board is spinning wildly out of control. I just found myself trying to remember if the geothermal debate was in the "Columbia" thread or the "Desmond Bane" thread.

Still a pointless tournament that does not need to exist but at this point lets go ahead and try to win the damn thing. Its all positive at this point I think a point you might be missing (and Sherm as well) is that is gives our guys tournament experience that can be put to use next year. Should be helpful come next year's MAC Tournament. I get that point and agree it does give us more practice time, games exp etc. The tournament itself and others like it are pointless though as are most bowl games.

That's a big, fat non-committal committal right there.
'Well, we might get a commit or transfer next year. If we do, he might be good. Or he might not be good.'

Cards are now showing as 7 point dogs to the Big City slickers.
I'm pretty sure Bane will have a spot in the 2nd level suites.....

OK, I have finally done a little bit of unscientific research on our opponent tonight and I don't like what I see.
1.) Their gym is a crackerbox, high school sweatbox that reminds me of the old U Gym. It will be a weird venue for our guys and a huge advantage for them. 2.) They appear to have several senior guards. 3.) They have two 6-10 guys and a 7 footer. Of course we've been told that good big men at mid-majors are a myth akin to the Mothman, so why worry? Except one of their 6-10 guys had 17 last game. 4.) One of their freshman is from Braunschwieg, Germany. I love braunschweiger. How do I root against this guy? I hope he doesn't play. 5.) They have about 115 more assists than us and we have around 115 more rebounds. That reminds me of our last opponent. Better penetrators which gives us fits. 6.) One positive note. They beat the sh*t out of their first round opponent and hit a school record 16 threes in the CIT opener. If they follow suit to our performance after the EMU blowout, maybe they'll fall on their face.
7.) UPDATE: They are 15-4 at home. Lost to Longwood (heh heh), St. Joseph by 1, Princeton by 3 in OT and Yale in their conf. tourney by 15. 8.) BONUS UPDATE: The Ivy League Tournament is sponsored by Otis Elevator. Is there another elevator company that even exists currently on the planet? That seems like a waste of marketing $$ on their part.
Here's hoping we have more than 20 points at the last media TO of the first half and trail by less than 10. If so, we have a chance!

The Ivy has 4 teams that could play in the MAc 4 below our level. Why would they even get any good basketball players for the Ivy League, including a few tall guys?
I don't find this so difficult. Probably a little easier to recruit to Columbia in the big apple than to Muncie, and although we have nationally recognized programs, a student knows that Ivy degree is worth a lot! Completely different recruit pool than we are after, and they apparently did reasonably well without being Harvard or Yale.
What I don't get is why Cornell comes up last in the Ivy. Really beautiful campus, great school, large enrollment.
