So you guys are already ruling out Chase Harrison, the transfer from Marshall. He got a few series Semonza looked better throwing and Kelly looked better being Kelly.. Things can always change still have fall camp to getvthrough

Harrison is an insurance policy for when/if Semonza leaves. Neu/Lynch want Semonza as the guy. His job to lose.

Harrison is an insurance policy for when/if Semonza leaves. And when do we think that will be? Are we sure he'll be here next fall?

The only question is if he has a really good season will bigger money come looking for him? We had our qb of the future committed til Michigan st took him shortly before signing day. Harrison fell in our lap. I don’t think he was ever going to start this coming season. Unless he has an unbelievable fall camp. Still, they are all in on Semonza.

We agree on Semonza but Ive been saying that all winter its never really been in doubt. You said Qb and RB play in spring game was bad. Why did you think that? As far as Kelly Transfering like I said I dont see it happening this portal session I thought Semonza had 1 really good throw (TE seam route). He was wasn't very accurate, was late on timing of throws & had 2-3 balls batted down at the line. He had 1 "wow" throw all day. For the RBs, no one stood out. Maybe the DL dominated the OL, but I don't remember any big RB run/play. To be fair, it was a controlled practice with little "game action and hitting" to evaluate correctly.

The starting oline didn't even dress. It was a controlled scrimmage. Don't worry about it, it was meaningless,

If winning is important, I think (according to what I saw in late ‘23) Kelly can get us into a bowl. How? You have to be able to pass, especially in the MAC.

MU did in both 2022 and 2023. Passing is certainly important, but great athletic ability will win you games in the MAC (and at the college level, generally). These are facts.

Facts? I don't agree. Being one dimensional is a death sentence to an offense even with a great athlete. He's no Lamar Jackson. He'll make a few spectacular plays. That won't be enough to win games against decent teams or a championship. We scored 6 points against Toledo. 15 against Miami. Our defense kept us in those games. Our offense sucked.
1 touchdown and 5 field goals in those two games.

I’d rather see another Davis or Wenning at QB, but it doesn’t look like we have that kind of talent on our roster (consistently across offense). Considering the past few seasons, and the 2024 season ahead, along with any proof (or facts) that we have to date, Kelly would appear to be the best choice.

Semonza will be starter. Not too late for Kelly to hit portal. Speaking of that, look for them to pick up their RB1 in the portal in a week. #20 looked the best of what was at spring practice.

I'd just line Kelly up in the backfield and get him the ball everyway you can, and let him throw it a few times too as an option pass. He could be a pretty dang good running back if he could take the punishment. And imagine throwing to him out in the flat.
It's coaching malpractice that Neu/Lynch didn't recognize the potential the day Kelly set foot on campus and pour everything into developing him as a passer. He'd have started the last 2 full seasons and we'd very likely have had winning records both years. Instead they didn't develop the kid at all. I mean, they preferred Paddock......
Another thing-- Paddock leaves and does some pretty decent things at Illinois against all belief. Hatcher is getting private workouts with NFL teams who evidently like his throws. And yet our staff, with "QB coach to Drew Brees" couldn't get much of anything out of them? Hell, even Plitt plateaued as a junior and he went on to get NFL shots. Part of that is having Kevin Lynch be your OC and QB coach..... The Lynch name doesn't automatically make you good at offense.

Far from home, and clearly our staff doesn't know how to use him or even what to do with him much of the time. There are plenty of coaches who would know how to use him. You'd think if he were really worth it someone would come after him waving cash. Why not?
