I guess. I'm not familiar with Sowell's work on indoor football facilities It will be a good thought exercise for you to see if you can extrapolate from the economic principles you’ll learn about to formulate more rational thinking on the topic.

If BSU can convince gullible people with disposable money to blow $15 million on an idiotic indoor facility boondoggle then, surely, they can scare up $4000 for each basketball player...if they made any sort of effort. Since you love to scold others to crack an economics textbook sometime, I'd encourage you to read some Thomas Sowell.

Bell and Middleton in the portal this morning. Very disappointed, but not surprised by Middleton. We needed Bell to go! I think Middleton had the most upside on the roster. I'm also disappointed by that.

I'm curious if what happened to Indiana State affects anyone's position on UMass joining the conference. I believe the argument was made that UMass, rather than just taking the conference's auto-bid, would help raise us up enough to become a two-bid conference. My understanding is that the Missouri Valley is significantly better than the MAC and Indiana State had pretty close to a dream season, yet still did not make the big dance.
I would argue that for conferences outside of the big boys, the auto-bid is the only thing you can count on, so inviting in a team that will immediately compete for it does a disservice to the existing members.

No real clues in that Daily News story as to what departures will be. Article was only a review of a weak season finish that we all would like to forget. The daily news guys have proven to be ok at writing post game articles but not very adept at asking questions that need asking So they’re good at the part AI can do but bad at the part that takes human thinking?

We're really going to shit on Toledo for choking in the tournament? Pot, meet kettle. There's plenty of shit to go around.

Poor Toledo. I guess I'd rather have their problem than ours, but they still have a pretty serious problem.

I thought Matt Painter’s comments on the B10 network (I think quotes from his most recent post game interview) was interesting and revealing. He made the comment that PU has the biggest winning percentage in the B10 over the past 10 YEARS! I knew they have had a lot of good teams and success but that is rare air for sure. The other comment he made I found interesting was that he acknowledged that “Purdue bb doesn’t really resonate on a national level or even Midwest basis with bb fans and media”. I think that’s very true. Don’t get me wrong PU has their fans and fan base but you just don’t see or think of them as a national power or they’re not one of the first teams to be rattled off when there’s discussion about the top programs in men’s bb. Not sure why that is maybe bc they seem to always crap the bed come tournament time. Maybe this year that changes for them. I like Painter and hate Purdue though. "Not sure why that is maybe bc they seem to always crap the bed come tournament time." Yes. I know a lot of people who do not watch a college basketball game until March Madness starts. And all those people see is a hyped up Purdue team get gut-punched year-in and year-out. Another example of this is Toledo. They just three-peated as regular season champs. I bet nobody outside of the MAC views them as a real contender because they've not made the big dance in any of those years.

the remaining few really have nowhere to go and no conference who'd want them - thus real difficulty in assembling a full FBS schedule. If I were in charge of one of those remaining schools I might take that as a wake-up call.

I’m not a Purdue fan but I have watched several of their home games on television over the last few years and the atmosphere they have going for them in Mackey Arena is up there with the best of them I thought Matt Painter’s comments on the B10 network (I think quotes from his most recent post game interview) was interesting and revealing. As one who has argued on the past here that people shouldn't be quick to point to excuse-making whenever the coach complains about something. The comments at the last press conference struck me as excuse-making. But I do think he is expressing a confusion that we all agree with. Everyone here wonders why the hell we can't put a good team on the floor with all of our assets. But when you're the head coach you can't say that part out loud, because you're the guy whose supposed to answer the question, not ask it.

If you are happy with the portal and NIL in college basketball and see it as a great positive to the MAC or to college basketball, you disagree with most coaches.
Please. Enough with the stupid strawman style. Now that someone has called him on it, I’m sure it’ll stop.

My prediction for Friday is we have a heroic, gut-checking, come from behind victory, only for Akron to phone it in and lose to WMU. The tough decision is should I drive to Bowling Green to witness it? Akron has to win for one seed do they care Yeah but I think they just lost to an emu.
