19-18 with the win. Crawled their way back above .500
Give Boilers some credit. They scheduled us and ISU on Tue/Wed and play a 3 game conference series Fri-Sun.

Travel to Buffalo Friday. Buffs are 11-22, 3-6 MAC.
Recently lost to Toledo 21-20, must have been an awesome game.

Nice to see that our pitching staff only gave up two free passes in 12 innings -- 1 BB & 1 HBP. None of Purdue's 3 runs came on two outs.
Still allowed 33% of inning leadoff batters to reach base. Still, a decent job by the pitching staff, and most importantly, a win.

Cards take Game 2 6-4 hopefully we can get another tomorrow. Buffalo hit well & definitely have some players that should be playing next year as transfers in D1.

Streak broken. Pitching failed in late innings. But it was a great run and they can just start another one.

After our start, you have to sweep teams like Buffalo (a team shutting down the sport) in the third game of a series where you're likely not facing their strongest pitcher.
Good streak. On to the next.

On to the next. Yes you do. You want a tourney bye, you have to finish high in the conference. You have to sweep your weekends, especially against the weaker programs. A win yesterday would've kept us in 2nd place in the MAC West. As much as I love beating Big 10 teams, I'd trade the Purdue win for a win yesterday. Outside of Central Michigan, Kent State and Ball State, all MAC teams have overall losing records. We started conference play in a big hole.

While I agree losing to Buffalo yesterday hurts I thought Burns pitched great. He was tiring in the 8th & apparently Coach did not feel he had anyone else to go to. Buffalo has some players all 3 games were competitive. I don't know what openings we have next year but I would certainly contact some of their players if we have spots at their positions. They have a number of Ohio players although most of the team is from NY.
